Our Finance Division provides financial services such as banking, accounting, investments, debt analysis, financial reporting, revenue processing and accounts payable. We are responsible for the City’s capital & operating budgets, and consolidated financial statements.

The City actively pursues a wide range of federal and provincial grant programs to support municipal initiatives, infrastructure development, and community services. Each year, numerous applications are prepared and submitted across various funding streams from capital infrastructure grants and transit funding to environmental, cultural, and economic development programs. The Grants Coordinator plays a key role in identifying opportunities, preparing high-quality applications, coordinating interdepartmental input, and ensuring compliance with funding requirements. Effective grants management enhances the City’s ability to leverage external funding sources, maximize financial resources, and deliver impactful projects for the community.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Manager - Financial Reporting, you will lead the coordination, preparation, and tracking of external grant applications across the corporation. This position is responsible for identifying new funding opportunities, supporting the drafting and submission of grant applications, monitoring for compliance with funding agreements, tracking relevant metrics and serving as a liaison between the City and funding agencies.

The role works collaboratively across departments to maximize external funding opportunities in support of corporate priorities, capital projects, and strategic initiatives.

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will have the following:

  • Degree in Public Administration, Business, or similar field together with three years’ experience coordinating grant applications or funding programs, preferably in a municipal or broader public sector environment; or
  • Diploma in business administration, commerce or related field together with five years’ experience coordinating grant applications or funding programs, preferably in a municipal or broader public sector environment
  • Experience drafting, reviewing and administering funding applications and liaising with government or funding bodies.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with other levels of government, private and public officials, direct reports, co-workers, and the general public.
  • Strong project/time management, analytical/critical thinking, problem-solving and decision- making skills.
  • Knowledge of and experience with applying and reporting for federal, provincial and non- government funding opportunities.
