About Young Bosses in Business Foundation (YBIB)

YBIB is a youth-focused Canadian charity supporting entrepreneurship, leadership, and

real-world skill-building for young people. We deliver programs and opportunities that help

youth build confidence, practical experience, and future-ready skills through mentorship,

community partnerships, and hands-on learning.

Placement Overview (Remote)

The Grant Writing Assistant supports YBIB’s funding growth through grant research, tracking,

and application support. This role is ideal for a student who enjoys writing, research, and

organization and wants real-world nonprofit experience supporting fundraising and program

sustainability.

Reports to: Head of Donor Relations, Executive Director

What You’ll Work On

1) Grant & Sponsorship Research

• Research grant and sponsorship opportunities aligned with YBIB’s mission and programming

• Identify eligibility requirements, priorities, and deadlines
• Summarize opportunities and recommend which to pursue

2) Grant Tracking & Coordination

• Maintain a grant tracker (deadlines, requirements, status, next steps)
• Coordinate timelines and reminders to keep applications moving
• Support quick updates and coordination via WhatsApp as needed

3) Application Support & Writing

• Support drafting and completing application sections using internal materials (program info, impact notes, budgets where provided)

• Support edits and revisions prior to submission as assigned
• Ensure submissions follow funder formatting and checklist requirements

4) Document Management

• Keep supporting documents organized, current, and submission-ready (e.g., org overview, letters, program descriptions)

• Maintain clean folder structure so materials are easy to locate and reuse

Deliverables (what success looks like)

• A working grant tracker that is consistently updated and easy to understand
• A shortlist of aligned grant opportunities with clear notes and next steps
• Drafted application sections and supporting materials that are organized and

submission-ready

Ideal Candidate

• College/university student completing placement hours in Nonprofit Management, Communications, English/Writing, Public Policy, Social Sciences, Business, or a related

program

• Strong writing skills and attention to detail
• Organized, dependable, and comfortable managing deadlines

Bonus Skills (nice to have)

• Experience with grants, sponsorships, fundraising, or proposal writing
• Comfort summarizing information and adapting writing to different funder questions
