Job Title: Part-Time Contract Grant Writer
Contract Type: Part-time, contract (10–15 hours/week or as negotiated)
Location: Remote (Canada)
Contract Duration: 3 months with possibility of renewal
Compensation: $45-$50 per hour + expenses as required
Position Overview
The Part-Time Contract Grant Writer will support the organization’s fundraising and program development efforts by identifying funding opportunities, preparing compelling grant applications, and ensuring timely submission of high-quality proposals. The ideal candidate is an experienced grant writer with strong research, writing, and project coordination skills, and a proven track record of securing funding in the non-profit or health sector.
Key Responsibilities
Grant Research & Strategy
- Identify federal, provincial, foundation, and corporate funding opportunities aligned with organizational priorities
- Track upcoming deadlines and maintain a grants calendar
- Review funding guidelines and assess fit with organizational objectives
Proposal Development
- Lead the full cycle of grant writing, including drafting, editing, and preparing proposals, budgets, and supporting documents
- Develop clear, persuasive narratives that reflect program goals, organizational strengths, and community impact
- Work with staff and subject matter experts to gather required information, data, and program details
- Ensure all applications meet funder requirements, formatting, and submission criteria
Collaboration & Communication
- Work closely with program leads, finance, and executive leadership to align proposals with organizational strategy
- Participate in planning meetings as needed
- Provide updates on proposal progress and funding results
Qualifications
Required
- Minimum 5 years of experience writing successful grant proposals for non-profits, academic institutions, or health organizations
- Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills
- Strong understanding of proposal structure, logic models, evaluation plans, and budgets
- Experience working with federal and provincial funding bodies (e.g., CIHR, PHAC, SSHRC, provincial ministries, foundations)
- Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and juggle multiple projects
- Strong organizational and project management skills
Preferred
- Experience in health, disability, brain injury, and non-profit sector
- Experience developing knowledge mobilization or research-based proposals
- Experience using grant search platforms
Contract Details
