Rafiki Bridge is an African-centered, community-driven organization connecting people, culture, and opportunity. We operate at the intersection of menstrual health, education, and empowerment, building bridges that promote dignity, leadership, and sustainable development.
Our flagship programs include:
Bridging Circles (Toronto): Supporting immigrant and refugee women of African descent through mentorship, wellness, and integration.
Adolescent Girls Mentorship & Menstrual Health Program (Kenya): Promoting sustainable menstrual health solutions, leadership, and mentorship for adolescent girls.
Through these initiatives, Rafiki Bridge continues to create pathways for inclusion, empowerment, and intergenerational impact.
Role Overview
As a Grant Writer Volunteer, you will play a key role in helping Rafiki Bridge secure funding to sustain and grow our programs. You will research potential funders, craft compelling proposals, and support the organization’s fundraising strategy to strengthen its long-term impact.
What You’ll Do
Research and identify relevant grant opportunities from government agencies, foundations, and corporate funders.
Write clear, persuasive, and well-structured grant proposals, letters of intent, and reports.
Collaborate with the Rafiki Bridge team to gather data, success stories, and program information for proposals.
Support in developing a grants calendar and tracking submission deadlines.
Maintain accurate records of applications, funder communications, and reporting requirements.
Contribute to the development of fundraising materials and donor engagement strategies.
Who You Are
✔ Passionate about social impact, African-centered community development, and gender equity.
✔ Strong writing and research skills with attention to detail and clarity.
✔ Experience in grant writing, fundraising, communications, or nonprofit development (an asset but not required).
✔ Organized, self-motivated, and comfortable working independently or collaboratively.
✔ Available to volunteer approximately 10 hours per week (hybrid — remote with occasional in-person meetings or events).
