
Gay Men’s Health Program Coordinator

We are hiring one amazing Gay Men’s Health Program Coordinator to join our motivated team with a mission to normalize sexual health in Alberta. The Gay Men’s Health Program Coordinator provides education and support for gay, bisexual and other men who have sex with men (gbMSM) to increase their knowledge of sexually transmitted and blood-borne infections (STBBIs) and how to prevent them. This position will lead the coordination of initiatives for the prevention and detection of STBBIs, specifically the weekly community testing clinics.
This position will provide support, referrals, systems navigation assistance and co-facilitate various educational programs and support community connections through community engagement programming.
As our successful candidate you will:
- Oversee community-based STI testing nights and outreach initiatives for gay, bisexual, and other men who have sex with men (gbMSM), including supporting clients with questions related to sexual health, HIV and other sexually transmitted and blood-borne infections (STBBIs), and service navigation.
- Plan and facilitate Totally Outright, a health leadership program for young (18–30-year-old) Two Spirit, gay, bisexual and queer (2SGBQ+) men to build their capacity to prevent STBBIs.
- Lead and facilitate the Community Advisory Board (CAB) for 2SGBQ+ men in Calgary and the surrounding area, including planning events and initiatives in conjunction with the CAB throughout the year.
- Facilitate workshops, community-based health programs, and professional development sessions for community members and service providers related to gbMSM sexual health and wellness.
- Support the coordination and implementation of clinical STI services delivered in partnership with external organizations.
- Consult directly with gbMSM community members to identify emerging health priorities, program needs related to HIV and STBBI prevention, sexual health, and opportunities for engagement.
- Promote Centre for Sexuality programs and services within gbMSM communities and represent the program at relevant community and professional events.
- Track program performance against established KPIs, participation metrics, strategic objectives, and budget allocations.
- Develop and apply evaluation tools to assess program effectiveness and prepare reports and recommendations for leadership, stakeholders, and funders.
- Continuously refine and enhance program offerings through ongoing monitoring, evaluation, and responsiveness to participant feedback and emerging research.
- Prepare and update program materials and contribute to the development of promotional content in collaboration with communications staff.
- Ensure community partners adhere to program agreements and memoranda of understanding while supporting sustainable partnership development and advocacy efforts.
- Participate in collaborative agency initiatives, staff meetings, training, and performance planning processes to ensure alignment with organizational objectives.
Qualifications and Attributes:
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Social Work, Public Health, Human Services, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and population-specific experience.
- Minimum of two (2) years of related work experience, preferably in sexual health or gbMSM-focused programming.
- Advanced knowledge and experience facilitating groups, workshops, and programs related to sexual health, mental health, and wellness.
- Demonstrated experience in program development and implementation.
- Community development and engagement experience is required.
- Ability and comfort working with diverse populations of youth and adults.
- Knowledge of and comfort with sexuality and sexual health issues specifically related to gbMSM health.
- Availability to cover two evening shifts per week (up to 8:00 pm) to support the testing clinic.
- Pro-choice philosophy.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment.
- Ability to provide a Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Search.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to travel; must hold a valid driver’s licence, have access to a reliable vehicle, and maintain a minimum $2,000,000 inclusive insurance limit for bodily injury and property damage.
Additional details:
This is a full-time permanent position working 35 hours per week and will include some travel within the city and surrounding areas, the candidate should have access to a reliable vehicle and appropriate insurance.
The successful candidate must be able to provide a police information record check with vulnerable sector search, has valid First Aid and CPR certifications (or willingness to become certified), and is available to work some evenings as required.
The position is based at our Calgary Office and reports to the Training Centre Manager. The salary range for this position is $61,000 to $64,000 with a comprehensive benefits package and an excellent work environment. Our new hires start with three weeks of paid vacation and all staff are given Fridays off on long weekends in the summer (May through September) and additional paid days off at the end of the year.
