
Fundraising Volunteer
Neighbourhood Information Post (NIP) is a not-for-profit, community-based organization that has been serving Toronto’s downtown east community since 1971. Our services include the Toronto Rent Bank Program, Energy Financial Assistance Programs, Voluntary Housing Trusteeship Program, General Housing Help and Economic Stability Support, and Community Support Services. Our mandate is to build local communities and improve the resilience of the people in our communities.
NIP invites applications from individuals interested in serving as a volunteer member of the Programming Committee. The Committee is responsible for supporting fundraising efforts, organizing special events, and ensuring adequate resources are in place to carry out community-based initiatives in Moss Park and Regent Park. We strive to recruit candidates who reflect the diversity of the Downtown East community.
Responsibilities:
- Help identify potential donors, sponsors, and partners
- Review fundraising letters and proposals
- Provide input on grant opportunities and assist with prospect research
- Participate in quarterly virtual Programming Committee meetings
- Contribute to the development of fundraising strategies and plans
- Assist in planning and implementing special fundraising events
- Contribute ideas for new fundraising initiatives
Qualifications:
- Experience supporting or coordinating fundraising initiatives in the non-profit sector (e.g., special events, donor prospecting, donor relations)
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Relevant education and/or experience in fundraising
- Commitment to supporting and improving the Downtown East community
- Ability to contribute approximately 5–10 hours per month (most responsibilities can be performed remotely)
