About LandSeed

LandSeed is a non-profit organization tackling the Canadian housing crisis with a unique, data-powered approach. We bridge critical gaps in the housing ecosystem by integrating deep community market data with advanced AI systems. Our focus is on crowdsourcing and identifying obstacles to attainable affordable housing, allowing us to deliver structured, scalable solutions where they are needed most.

Our Commitment: We are driven to uplift those in housing ownership need, including first-time homebuyers, seniors, immigrants, single parents, environmentalists, veterans, and individuals with disabilities. Our vision is to pioneer data-driven designs and value structures for entry-level housing across Canada.

Job description

Key Responsibilities

Fundraising & Capital Leadership

  • Lead fundraising efforts across grants, philanthropy, and mission-aligned partnerships
  • Personally engage in relationship-building, outreach, and closing
  • Identify both near-term funding opportunities and longer-term capital pathways

Strategy & Positioning

  • Design a realistic fundraising and capital strategy aligned with LandSeed’s stage and capacity
  • Help refine narrative, positioning, and funder alignment
  • Advise on sequencing: what to raise now vs. later

Systems & Accountability

  • Establish lightweight fundraising systems (pipeline tracking, reporting, metrics)
  • Coordinate closely with leadership on budget, runway, and growth implications

Growth Path & Leadership

  • Work directly with the Executive Director
  • Help shape the long-term structure of fundraising within the organization
  • Transition into a paid, salaried or stipend-based leadership role as funding milestones are met (if mutually desired)

Who This Role Is For

This role is ideal for someone who:

  • Has 3+ years of experience in fundraising, development, or capital strategy
  • Has personally closed grants, major gifts, or institutional funding
  • Values autonomy, trust, and impact over hierarchy or pace

What You’ll Gain

  • Real ownership and influence over strategy and outcomes
  • Financial upside aligned with impact
  • The opportunity to contribute experience toward work that matters, alongside peers who value purpose and legacy

Expected time commitment

  • ~ 10 hours per week
  • Growth pathway: Clear transition into a paid leadership role as fundraising stabilizes
