Term: Contract (initial 12 months, with potential to evolve into a longer-term fundraising leadership role)

About Jury Lands Foundation
Jury Lands Foundation is a registered charitable organization dedicated to preserving and repurposing Camp 30 in Bowmanville, Ontario—one of Canada’s most historically significant Second World War sites and the location of the ‘Battle of Bowmanville.’ This former school campus opened in 1925 as the Boys Training School. It served as a POW camp during the Second World War and held about 800 German POW’s. Many of the camp’s inmates were high ranking German army officers, U-boat captains and Luftwaffe pilots. The Foundation is currently leading a major capital campaign to secure $1.6 million to stabilize and protectthe historic Camp 30 Cafeteria Building and advance the site towards long-term public, educational, and community use.
Position Overview
Jury Lands Foundation is seeking an experienced and entrepreneurial Fundraising Lead to play a central role in advancing this critical capital campaign.
The successful candidate will lead efforts to identify, cultivate, and secure major gifts, corporate sponsorships, and foundation grants. This role is ideal for a fundraiser with a strong existing network and a proven track record of securing significant philanthropic support.
This position offers the opportunity to help shape a nationally significant heritage preservation project and may evolve into a longer-term fundraising leadership role as the campaign progresses.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a fundraising strategy to support the $1.6M capital campaign goal
- Identify, cultivate, and secure:
- Major individual donors
- Corporate sponsors
- Foundation and grant funding
- Leverage existing professional networks to generate early donor engagement
- Expand and manage a pipeline of prospective donors and sponsors
- Prepare compelling donor proposals, sponsorship packages, and presentations
- Build and maintain strong relationships with donors and partners
- Support and participate in fundraising events and donor meetings
- Maintain accurate records of donor engagement and fundraising activity
- Collaborate with the Foundation’s Board and communications team to align outreach efforts
Qualifications and Experience
- Proven experience in nonprofit fundraising, capital campaigns, sponsorship development, or major gift fundraising
- Demonstrated success securing significant donations, sponsorships, or grants
- Strong existing network of donor, corporate, and/or foundation contacts
- Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills
- Ability to work independently in a small, mission-driven organization
- Experience supporting capital campaigns, heritage projects, or community initiatives is an asset
- Familiarity with donor management systems and fundraising best practices is an asset
Compensation
This is a paid contract role. Compensation will be structured based on funds raised and will be funded directly through donations secured as part of the campaign.
