Volunteer Position Title: Fundraising Coordinator
Reports To: Board of Directors
Summary
The Volunteer Fundraising Coordinator helps shape and implement CANAAF’s annual fundraising plan in alignment with the organization’s budget and goals. Working closely with the Board of Directors, this volunteer leads efforts to plan creative fundraising initiatives, strengthen donor relationships, and grow a base of active and repeat supporters through meaningful engagement and appreciation.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and carry out fundraising activities, such as annual giving campaigns, donor appeals, and special initiatives that support the Canadian Alopecia Areata Foundation’s mission.
- Recruit and coordinate sponsors, participants, and volunteers for fundraising events.
- Provide guidance and support to volunteer team members involved in fundraising efforts.
- Collaborate with the Administrative Assistant and Public Relations Director to design and share promotional materials (e.g., social media posts, newsletters, and event advertisements).
- Research potential funding sources and assist with the preparation of grant and sponsorship applications.
- Maintain and update donor records, ensuring accurate information and timely acknowledgements.
- Provide monthly activity updates and fundraising reports during Board meetings (held via Zoom).
- Work with the Board of Directors to plan and support fundraising elements of CANAAF’s annual national summer conference.
- Attend the annual national summer conference in the Greater Toronto Area.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Approximately 15–20 volunteer hours per month.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in fundraising, donor relations, or nonprofit development (professional or volunteer experience).
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Creative, self-motivated, and detail-oriented.
- Comfortable working within a budget and managing multiple priorities.
- Capable computer skills (Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, or equivalent).
- Awareness of current fundraising methods and trends.
- Willingness to plan, organize, and participate in a variety of CANAAF initiatives.
- Personal connection to alopecia areata is an asset.
- Commitment to CANAAF’s mission, values, and policies.
