About Dress for Success Toronto
Dress for Success Toronto® is part of a global movement for change. We are a local network member of an international not-for-profit organization, with 130 global network members across 15 countries who collectively have helped more than 1.5 million women work towards self-sufficiency.
Since 2009, we have helped over 20,000 women in the Greater Toronto Area along their job search and career trajectory. We work together with agency partners, corporate sponsors, individual donors, and over 80 dedicated volunteers to create real impact in women’s lives.

Position Summary
We are seeking action-oriented connectors and business developers to join our Fundraising Committee. Team members help generate philanthropic support, sponsorship revenue, and strategic partnerships that advance the organization's mission. Committee members will actively contribute their networks, expertise, and ideas to identify new opportunities for growth and engagement.
As demand for our programs continues to grow, we are seeking passionate and engaged professionals who can help expand our fundraising reach, corporate partnerships and community relationships to secure the resources needed to deliver programs and services that transform lives. Working closely with the Executive Director, Fundraising Committee members help DFS Toronto increase the number of women we serve and ensure long-term stability.

As a Member of the Fundraising Committee, your responsibilities may include:
Relationship Development & Revenue Generation
- Leverage your professional and personal networks to identify and cultivate prospective donors, sponsors, corporate partners, foundations, and community leaders.
- Facilitate introductions between DFS Toronto Executive Director and senior decision-makers, corporate executives, philanthropists, and community influencers.
- Connect the organization with Women's Employee Resource Groups (ERGs), leadership networks, affinity groups, and diversity-focused initiatives.
- Champion DFS Toronto within your corporate, professional, and community networks to contribute to a steady flow of Corporate Volunteer Engagement opportunities throughout the year.
Sponsorship Development
- Assist in securing sponsorships for DFS Toronto's programs, services, Boutique spaces, and events, including annual International Women’s Day Power of Possibility and Shop with Purpose events
- Support the identification and recruitment of event guests, corporate participants, and keynote speakers and panelists.
- Participate in ongoing sponsorship outreach and relationship development activities.
Innovation & Fundraising Growth
- Share emerging fundraising trends, tools, and best practices that strengthen business development outcomes, diversify revenue streams, and expand individual donor engagement.
- Identify opportunities to leverage technology, digital engagement, AI-enabled tools, social platforms, and innovative fundraising approaches.
- Explore new approaches to donor engagement, community building, and social impact storytelling.
Community Commitment
- Attend and actively participate in monthly virtual committee meetings, annual in-person fundraising events, and, optionally, client Learning & Connection Days
- Contribute expertise, insights, and opportunities that support fundraising objectives.
- Serve as an ambassador for DFS Toronto within your community and beyond.
Successful Fundraising Committee members will:
- Drive fundraising & sponsorships: actively support initiatives, introduce innovative strategies, and help convert new opportunities into philanthropic and sponsorship support.
- Expand networks & awareness: build meaningful connections with potential donors and partners to elevate the profile of Dress for Success Toronto.
- Fuel future growth: ensure long-term sustainability by contributing to the fundraising pipeline and securing strategic relationships.
Qualifications
We are particularly interested in candidates who have:
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships, create partnerships, influence stakeholders, or generate support for causes, organizations, or initiatives.
- A commitment to advancing women's economic empowerment and gender equity.
- Advanced professional experience in fundraising or business development
- Experience with traditional and/or emerging fundraising approaches, including corporate sponsorships, major gifts, peer-to-peer fundraising, digital campaigns, social impact initiatives, community fundraising, donor engagement, or volunteer mobilization.
- Knowledge of current fundraising trends, donor engagement strategies, digital marketing, AI-enabled tools, social platforms, or technology that can strengthen fundraising outcomes.
- Strong communication, networking, and collaboration skills.
- Previous nonprofit board or fundraising committee experience is welcome but not required.
