Fundraising Committee, Member Capital Rainbow Refuge 🟣Role Overview As a member of the Fundraising Committee, you will provide the strategic expertise necessary to diversify and sustain Capital Rainbow Refuge’s funding base. This role focuses on moving beyond transactional grants toward long-term partnership building with foundations and donors.
🟣Organization Profile Capital Rainbow Refuge (CRR) is a charity and non-profit organization founded in 2010 to sponsor and support sexual and gender minority refugees. It is based in the national capital region and Eastern Ontario. CRR mentors other LGBTQI+ refugee sponsorship groups and assists in the settlement of LGBTQI+ refugees who have arrived by other means (including inland refugee claimants, government refugees, and newcomers). CRR also engages in advocacy at all levels of government as a member of the Borders to Belonging national coalition for LGBTQ refugees.
🟣Scope of Work & Key Responsibilities
• Strategic Prospecting: Identify and vet potential funding partners whose mission align with CRR’s values.
• Donor Stewardship: Develop strategies to cultivate and maintain long-term, trust-based relationships with foundation officers and stakeholders.
• Impact Strategy: Advise on the identification of key performance metrics and collaborate with committee to present organizational data in a manner that resonates with funders.
• High-Level Outreach: Support leadership in preparing for and participating in introductory "pitch" meetings with prospective donors to explore mutual goals.

🟣Qualifications & Skills
• Communication: Exceptional writing and verbal skills for drafting personalized outreach and high-level grant narratives.
• Analytical Insight: Expertise in identifying which qualitative and quantitative metrics best demonstrate community impact to external stakeholders.
• Relationship Management: Proven ability to build and maintain professional partnerships with donors or foundation representatives.
🟣Time Commitment
• Meetings: The committee meets once per month to review progress and assign tasks.
• Independent Work: Approximately 2–4 hours per week for research, drafting, or data collection, depending on the current application cycle.
