VOLUNTEER – Fundraising and Crowdfunding Lead

Planet Watch is a youth-focused climate education initiative based in Ontario, dedicated to making climate science clear, accessible, and empowering. We create learning tools, community programs, and storytelling projects that help young people understand the climate crisis and take meaningful action. As we grow, we’re looking for a strategic fundraising leader to build our funding roadmap and guide a small team of volunteer fundraisers.

Role Overview

The Fundraising Manager – Strategy & Crowdfunding Lead will develop Planet Watch’s overall fundraising strategy, create a practical action plan, and oversee a small team responsible for executing it. Crowdfunding is a top priority for our organization, so experience with GoFundMe or similar platforms is essential. This role is ideal for someone who can think strategically, communicate clearly, and motivate others in a mission-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop a comprehensive fundraising strategy aligned with Planet Watch’s programs and growth goals
  • Create a clear fundraising plan with timelines, targets, and priority actions
  • Lead, support, and coordinate a small team of volunteer fundraisers
  • Design and manage high-impact crowdfunding campaigns (GoFundMe experience required)
  • Craft compelling campaign stories, visuals, and donor updates
  • Identify grant opportunities and guide the team in preparing strong applications
  • Build outreach pathways through social media, community partners, and youth networks
  • Track progress, evaluate results, and adjust strategies to maximize impact
  • Foster a positive, collaborative, youth-friendly team culture Qualifications
  • Proven experience with crowdfunding campaigns (GoFundMe strongly preferred)
  • Strong strategic planning and project leadership skills • Ability to guide and motivate a small team
  • Clear, engaging writing and digital storytelling abilities
  • Familiarity with grant writing and nonprofit fundraising
  • Comfort with remote collaboration tools
  • Passion for climate education, youth empowerment, or community-driven initiatives Time Commitment

Minimum 4–6 hours per week.

Eligibility

Candidates must reside in Canada and speak English.

  • Experienced (Non Manager)

Required languages

  • English
