The Role:
The Fund Development Coordinator is responsible for contributing to the achievements of Habitat Greater Ottawa’s revenue goals by managing donor platforms and digital fundraising programs. This role is responsible for overseeing the back-end operations that support a seamless donor journey. The individual will ensure digital touchpoints are optimized to enhance the donor experience to drive sustained support for the mission.
Reporting directly to the Director of Fund Development, the candidate supports the Fund Development Department in all fundraising activities and provides administrative support to the Director of Fund Development.
Key Responsibilities:
Campaign Development & Execution
- Plan and implement digital fundraising campaigns, including Direct Mail, monthly, and workplace giving.
- Manage bi-annual Direct Mail planning including, working with Communications to develop concept, prospect for matching sponsor/donor, organizing RENXT donor lists, and working with a mailing house for all printing, postage and delivery requirements.
- Write, schedule, and deploy fundraising emails and digital ads (Google, Meta, etc.).
- Work with graphic design tools (e.g., Canva & InDesign) to develop digital content for platforms such as social media, email, and websites for the Habitat affiliate.
- Oversee grant portfolio and research. Work with Senior Manager, Communications & Marketing to draft grant content. Support submission of grant and foundation proposals, including all required documentation, and fulfillment of grantee requirements for successful proposals
Website & Donation Platforms
- Maintain and optimize donation pages, forms, and user experiences.
- Optimize and Monitor online giving platforms (Canada Helps, Raiser’s Edge NXT) and create/edit donation forms and event pages.
Social Media & Content Support
- Collaborate with the communications team to develop and repurpose fundraising content across social media.
- Build and maintain digital monthly giving program.
- Back-end responsibility for the donor journey and digital touchpoints.
- Assist in planning digital fundraising campaigns and signature event campaigns to drive revenue.
- Work with the Communications Department to ensure sponsorship and donor recognition, event promotion and other donor engagement activities on social media and Habitat digital and print platforms.
- Develop marketing materials for the Fund Development Department.
- With support from the Communications Department, develop briefing materials, cases for support, proposals, presentations, agreements, stewardship reports, and fulfillment for sponsor partners.
Data, Research, Reporting & Analytics
- Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (open rates, CTRs, conversions, ROI).
- Generate reports on campaign performance and suggest improvements.
- Ensure data integrity by working closely with the donor database and Administrative Coordinator to ensure data is up-to-date.
- Monitor and research the giving landscape for new fundraising or engagement ideas and keep updated on fundraising best practices.
- Monitors and updates fund development goals on an ongoing basis, report progress to the Director of Fund Development.
Donor Engagement & Stewardship
- Support digital donor journeys and automated email flows for new, monthly, and lapsed donors.
- Assist with donor thank-you communications, e-receipting, and recognition.
- Retain and grow current individual digital donor base through stewardship planning and executing stewardship activities and initiative.
Fund Development Activities
- Generate revenue by building, managing and growing a pipeline of prospective digital donors, including the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of sponsors.
- Support growth of individual donor base through participation and networking in the community; build strategic network of contacts and develop relationships with individuals as a consistent source of potential new donors.
Signature and Third-Party Events
- Manage third-party event logistics, administration, sponsorship deliverables for the affiliate.
- Maintain event-related data in the organization’s CRM system or Raiser’s Edge NXT.
- Support logistics, administration and creation of revenue generating event activations for the Steel Toes & Stilettos Gala.
Knowledge and Skills:
Required:
- Post-secondary education in fundraising, marketing, communications, or related field.
- 2+ years experience in digital marketing, fundraising, or nonprofit communications.
- Strong writing and editing skills for donor-centered storytelling.
- Familiarity with email marketing tools (Mailchimp, InDesign, Canva, Meta, Google Ads, Google Analytics, Meta Ads, SEO/SEM).
- Track record in working towards and meeting fundraising/sales targets and quotas.
- Excellent written and oral communications skills.
- Highly organized and able to work on multiple tasks at once with little supervision.
- Collaborative team player.
- Experience with graphic design and editing software like Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator) or Canva is an asset.
Preferred:
- Experience with donor platforms like CanadaHelps, Raiser’s Edge NXT.
- Knowledge of accessibility (AODA) and CASL compliance.
- Bilingualism (French/English) is an asset.
- Certification in Digital Marketing or Fundraising (e.g., CFRE, Digital Marketing Institute) is an asset.
Working Conditions:
- The successful candidate is expected to work/live in Ottawa and/or the surrounding area.
- This is a hybrid position where the successful candidate is expected to be in-office 3 days a week at 3 Iber Road, Stittsville ON. Parking is available at no cost. Due to the nature of the organization, it can be expected at times to travel to the office, ReStores, and our build site.
The salary band for this role is between $52,000 and $56,000 per annum based on experience. Habitat Greater Ottawa also offers a comprehensive health benefits plan, vacation and flexible personal days.
