Brightside Community Homes Foundation (“Brightside”) is a private-sector, non-profit organization that owns and manages 26 rental properties across the city of Vancouver, providing affordable homes to those who struggle to meet the demands of market housing. OPPORTUNITY
Brightside is currently seeking to fill a part-time, permanent position in the role of Front Desk & Office Coordinator. This hybrid position will work in-person at our downtown office providing front desk service on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. As a key member of the People & Administrative Operations team, this dynamic role manages incoming calls, supports administrative functions, and helps ensure the office operates smoothly and efficiently. We’re looking for a mature, grounded individual with experience supporting vulnerable populations, who can think on their feet and effectively triage incoming requests with care and sound judgment.
MAIN AREAS OF FOCUS
- To provide external-facing front desk services in support of Brightside’s delivery of affordable housing.
- To triage and/or redirect incoming resident calls and inquiries to the appropriate functional area(s) within Brightside and to facilitate general communication/correspondence.
- To oversee the coordination and maintenance of Brightside’s physical office space(s) including its furniture, equipment, supplies, and other facilities.
KEY DUTIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES
- To serve as a front-line ambassador for Brightside and to liaise with residents and visitors/guests to address their immediate and/or day-to-day inquiries.
- Provide front desk and customer service to incoming visitors and guests;
- Accept, process, and log incoming rent payments from residents and issue receipts, when appropriate;
- Ensure adequate inventory of office supplies is available, maintained, and/or ordered on an ongoing basis;
- Prepare purchase orders, track and organize expenses, and ensure delivery and proper distribution of orders;
- Coordinate and assist with ad hoc administration, special event planning, scheduling, catering, event setup and takedown, etc., as required; and
- Other duties as assigned by the Manager, People & Administrative Operations and/or the COO.

QUALIFICATIONS & DESIRED SKILLS
- Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a service-related role working with the public and/or diverse populations and a demonstrated commitment to service excellence;
- Cultural agility: Ability to work respectfully, knowledgeably, and effectively with diverse and/or vulnerable populations;
- Solutions-oriented mindset: An exceptional ability to problem-solve issues that arise, analyze complex, challenging and sensitive issues and balance diverse interests with maturity and empathy;
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills; Ability to communicate effectively and inclusively with a variety of individuals in a professional and sensitive manner, while also maintaining the highest levels of confidentiality; • Sound practical knowledge of Office 365 including Teams, Word, Excel, Outlook, and Adobe Pro;
- Previous experience in affordable housing, property management, leasing, and/or administration would be considered an asset;
- Ability to speak a second language would also be considered an asset in this role;
- A satisfactory criminal record check for working with vulnerable children and adults is required for this position.

Brightside is proud to be a certified Living Wage employer. The expected salary range for this position is $44,000–$48,000 per year (equivalent to $28.21–$30.77 per hour based on a 30-hour work week), commensurate with experience, and includes a generous Paid Time Off (PTO) benefit. A competitive extended health, dental, and vision package is provided to qualified employees upon hiring. An employer matching RRSP program, along with additional benefits, is offered after three (3) months of successful employment.
