Friendly Visiting Volunteer (Remote)

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Call/visit identified clients at least once a week.
• Establish rapport and develop a friendly, supportive relationship with the client. Be sensitive to individual needs.
• Assess for health deterioration and refer appropriately within the organization.
• Call for crisis services if needed.
• Document in the client information systems.
• Complete Orientation & Training.

Technical and Behavioral Competencies Required:

• Experience supporting seniors.
• Must be reliable and trustworthy, be comfortable working one on one, unsupervised.
• Possess good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Compassionate, respectful, patient and sensitive to the needs of clients
• Possess good judgement and manage personal boundaries well.
• Transferable work/volunteer experiences providing companionship and support to vulnerable people is an asset
• Knowledge of issues impacting seniors is an asset.
• good problem-solving skills,
• able to work independently and as part of a team,
• able to work collaboratively with community resources,
• knowledge of and sensitivity to gender, race, sexual orientation, age and multicultural issues,

NOTE: Reconnect requires a criminal background check for all employees, volunteers, and students.

Workplace Requirements:

• Will generally provide consistent weekly availability of minimally 1.0 hours.
• Hours may vary depending on the needs of the client.
• Must be willing and able to work flexible hours.
