Friendly Caller, West Toronto Heatwave Registry

The West Toronto Ontario Health Team is seeking volunteers to support local community members on our Heatwave Registry. On days with extreme heat warnings and/or air quality warnings, volunteers will:

• Call residents on the Heatwave Registry
• Complete check-in with client and ensure they have what they need to stay safe in the heat
• Share information with client regarding heat safety this summer

The aim of this program is to ensure West Toronto residents stay safe in extreme heat this summer. Volunteers will receive training on the call centre software, call scripts, and local resources available to clients. Volunteers will need to be available to place calls on days with extreme heat warnings and/or air quality warnings. Aim will be to place calls between 8 AM and 12 PM when required.
