Position Summary

The Foster Family Support Worker (FFSW) plays a key role in supporting children/youth and their foster families through therapeutic and practical supports, both in the home and in the community. Reporting to Satori management, the FFSW is a vital member of each child’s Care Team and actively contributes to their Plan of Care.

Applicants must hold a valid driver’s license and have access to a reliable vehicle, as travel across multiple regions is required. (A company vehicle may be available for some transportation tasks, though not for travel to and from scheduled shifts.)

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct support in foster homes and the community, including:
  • Goal-based work with children/youth
  • Transportation to therapeutic/recreational programming
  • Support for family access visits
  • Caregiver relief
  • Act as a supportive resource and advocate for foster parents and children/youth.
  • Participate in Care Planning, Plan of Care, and Treatment Team meetings, offering input on areas such as education, recreation, social skills, clinical needs, and transitions.
  • Identify and support the professional development needs of foster parents.
  • Collaborate and network with community partners to strengthen available supports.
  • Assist with documentation and reporting (e.g., Plans of Care, Incident Reports, Admission/Discharge notes, Medical logs).
  • Maintain program standards and participate actively in team meetings, supervision, and planning sessions.
  • Perform administrative duties at Head Office as required.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Skills

Degree/diploma in Child and Youth Work, Child, Youth and Family Studies, Social Work, or a related field.

Equivalent qualifications with minimum 3 years’ direct experience working with children/youth may be considered.

Strong understanding of:

  • Child/adolescent development
  • Trauma and its impact
  • Child and youth mental health
  • Knowledge and experience in crisis prevention and intervention strategies.
  • Familiarity with community resources and ability to build effective partnerships.
  • Flexible, adaptable, and resilient in dynamic situations.
  • Strong verbal, written, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

Important: Most shifts occur on evenings and weekends (outside of school hours). Please apply only if you are available during these times.

Salary & Benefits

Starting hourly rate: $25.00/hour (includes $3.00 Ontario government permanent wage enhancement).
