Canadian Mental Health Association, North & West Vancouver (CMHA NWV) is seeking a banking professional or financial advisor to partner with us in delivering a meaningful financial literacy workshop (or short series) for our community members.

This initiative is designed to support individuals who are navigating mental health challenges alongside financial stress, including those who are low-income or precariously housed. Financial instability is often deeply connected to emotional wellbeing, and we’re looking to bridge that gap through accessible, compassionate education.

Who We’re Looking For

We’re hoping to collaborate with a local bank representative, ideally someone connected to a North Shore branch, who is interested in:

  • Giving back to the community through education and outreach
  • Making financial knowledge more accessible and stigma-free
  • Co-developing and co-facilitating a supportive, real-world workshop

What You’ll Do

  • Collaborate with our team to co-design a 1-hour workshop (or series) tailored to our participants
  • Deliver the session in a welcoming, non-judgmental environment
  • Participate in a Q&A to answer common banking and financial questions

Suggested Workshop Topics

We’re open to shaping this together, but some ideas include:

  • Budgeting for Peace of Mind: Practical tools to manage income, expenses, and build simple budgets
  • Managing Debt Without Shame: Understanding debt, repayment options, and communicating with creditors
  • Understanding the Psychology of Spending: Exploring emotional triggers and spending habits (optional co-facilitated)
  • Financial First Aid: Tools and banking options during times of financial hardship
  • Saving on a Tight Budget: Realistic strategies for building savings, even with limited income

Why This Matters

Many of the individuals we support at CMHA NWV face barriers to financial literacy, which can intensify stress, anxiety, and overall mental health challenges. Your expertise can directly contribute to increased stability, confidence, and wellbeing in our community.
