Friends of Ruby is dedicated to supporting the well-being of 2SLGBTQIA+ youth aged 16-29 through mental health services, social programs, and housing. We operate a Youth Drop-In Centre, offering barrier-free counselling, hot meals, and community programming, and a Transitional Home, providing emergency and long-term housing with life-skills support.

About the Role

As a Financial Analyst, your duties will be to:

Financial Reporting & Fund Development Analysis: Analyze fundraising revenue streams, ensuring accurate donor reporting and compliance with grants and CRA. Collaborate cross-functionally to manage budgets, reconcile third-party platforms, and provide financial oversight for events.

Financial Oversight & Analysis: Review AP, revenue tracking (donations, rentals, events), and expense reconciliation to ensure accuracy. Analyze payment data (credit cards, e-transfers, honorariums) to optimize workflows and reduce costs. Lead monthly P&L and GL reconciliation, ensuring alignment with approved budgets.

Financial Performance Analysis & Budgeting: Support annual budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting for leadership and audits. Monitor internal controls, assess risks, and ensure compliance with donor, grant, and CRA requirements alongside outsourced financial services

Compliance & Financial Operations: Manage reconciliations, government filings, and audit prep while maintaining legal and financial records. Process AP, AR, petty cash, and financial processing for compliance and efficiency.

Record-Keeping and Reporting Compliance: Maintain accurate clinical and statistical data per legal and ethical standards; generate reports and support public health protocols as needed.

Operational and Participant Support: Assist with daily operations—resource distribution, house activities, and participant needs—ensuring smooth service delivery and a safe environment.

What You Bring

Education & Experience – Degree in Finance, Accounting or equivalent work experience; non-profit and fund development experience is an asset.

Understanding of GAAP for Not-for-Profit organizations and CRA regulations related to charitable compliance.

Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Excel, SharePoint, Teams) and accounting software (QuickBooks, Sage, or similar). Experience with Dext Invoicing and ApprovalMax an asset.

Strategic Adaptability: Ability to quickly learn new systems, adapt to changing regulations and priorities, and manage multiple responsibilities with accuracy.

Collaboration & Communication: Strong interpersonal skills to work across departments and with external partners, clearly conveying complex financial information to diverse audiences.

Analytical Thinking & Problem-Solving: Skilled at analyzing trends, identifying financial risks, and implementing data-driven solutions to improve efficiency.
