
Finance Support Role
Pediatric Palliative Care is being defined in Canada through Canada’s Pediatric Palliative Care Alliance and aims to ensure all children with life-limiting illnesses receive comprehensive, high-quality care consistently across Canada. Sloane’s House With an estimated 1,900 children with medically complex needs in Durham Region and surrounding communities, 800 in Durham alone, the need for this pediatric respite and hospice care centre is clear. Our plan is to build a dedicated centre that embraces the entire family in an inclusive environment where every member of the family will be encouraged to visit and spend time. This centre will be a welcoming “home away from home” where children and their families, feel cared for by our experienced professionals, based on the family’s shared values, beliefs, needs, hopes and goals for the present and the future. Our Vision: A pediatric palliative care centre to be created in Durham Region, Ontario, founded on and guided by shared values. We will redefine paediatric respite care through personalized and contemporary care for children as well as their caregivers and families, to strengthen the fabric of their families and communities. Sloane’s House will demonstrate leading practices, innovation and a high level of skill, training and compassion in the delivery of its care, upholding the dignity and respect of each individual. Responsibilities of the Part-Time Financial Support Role Tasks:
• Bookkeeping and daily accounting operations
• Monthly Reconciliation: including overseeing accounts payable/receivables,
journal entries
• Monthly reconciliations of Donations from donation platform (Canada Helps)
Quickbooks
• Lead the month-end and quarter-end closing processes for financial reporting,
including analysis to detect errors and trends.
• Budget Preparation and Tracking
• Lead the preparation of the quarterly and annual financial reports to the board and internal stakeholders.
• In collaboration with the ED proactively work to identify inefficiencies and recommend and implement improvements.
• Prepare salaried/hourly staff payroll on a monthly basis
• Prepare Record of Employment for employees, as required.
• Review and reconcile T4’s and T4A’s and T2200 and submit summary to CRA as required.
OTHER DUTIES
• Maintain well-organized filing systems for financial documentation
• Assist leadership with financial analysis and other accounting tasks as required
• Post journal entries
• Assist with Annual Audit process
Requirements:
• Proficiency with Accounting Systems; such as Quickbooks
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills
• High level of accuracy, confidentiality, and attention to detail
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• 5 hours per month for account "auditing"
• 5 hours per month for financial report summary / QuickBooks
