Southlake Health Foundation

Since the inception of Southlake Health Foundation in 1980, more than $260 million has been raised in support of Southlake Health. Working with members of our communities, volunteers, our Southlake Family and our dedicated donors, Southlake Health Foundation will continue to support the most urgent needs of our hospital, including things like life-saving medical equipment and technology, infrastructure upgrades and expansions, patient programs, and staff education, all for the goal of providing leading edge care for patients and families, close to home.

The Position

The Finance Manager is responsible for supervising all accounting functions and the monitoring, analysis and reporting of organizational activities which includes, but is not limited to, financial statements, campaign and endowment activities. The incumbent will provide reporting of production, revenue, expenses, and variances to budgets and forecasts. The position is also responsible for the annual budget process, preparation of the HST claims, and audit deliverables. The incumbent is expected to observe established record-keeping accounting procedures, ensuring that document destruction complies with CRA and privacy requirements as well as supervising the Accounting/Finance Assistant.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Completion of post-secondary Education in Accounting or Finance, and/or actively pursuing a professional accounting designation, preferred
  • Minimum of five (5) years of hands on accounting experience
  • Strong knowledge of ASPE NPO and CRA guidelines for non-profit organizations
  • Keen understanding of current finance and accounting principles in the not-for-profit sector
  • Knowledge of and experience in Raiser’s Edge and Financial Edge, mandatory
  • Strong Excel skills, including ability to work with Pivot tables
  • Proficient in the use of all corporate MS-Office productivity tools, e.g. Word, PowerPoint
  • Evidence of the ability to design and implement custom reports from Financial Edge
  • Demonstrated excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Proven ability to exercise diplomacy and good judgment as part of excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to relate to different levels of stakeholders
  • Excellent organizational skills and demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple and changing demands
  • Exemplary attention to detail with excellent planning, organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently using an above average level of initiative coupled with the ability to work as part of a team
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
