Unpaid Volunteer Position
The Ontario Association of Veterinary Technicians’ Board of Directors is seeking a volunteer from the community to fill a position on the Finance & Audit Committee. This committee assists the Board of Directors in fulfilling its oversight responsibilities with respect to the financial health, sustainability, and risk management of the Association by:
- ensuring the integrity, accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting;
- ensuring adequate systems of internal controls over financial reporting and disclosure;
- ensuring compliance with laws, regulations and ethical conduct concerning the financial affairs of the Association;
- encouraging a culture of open, candid and direct communication channels between the Board, committees of the Board, management, and the external auditor;
- Reviewing and recommending to the board the Association’s risk management policies
- Advising on the risk impact of strategic issues, new services and products, and unexpected risk events
This committee meets virtually, 4 times per year following a structured workplan, and is supported by OAVT staff members.
No previous experience is required however the Board is seeking an indvidual who is financially literate. Interested members of the public must be Canadian citizens and residents of Ontario.
