About the Role
The Finance Associate will support the Finance team in delivering accurate, timely, and well‑organized financial operations. This position is ideal for a student interested in accounting, business administration, or finance who wants hands‑on experience in a national non‑profit environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support Month-End Close Activities o Assist with reconciliations, journal entry preparation, and variance checks to ensure timely month‑end reporting.
- Assist the Manager, Financial Operations and Reporting o Help compile monthly project reporting packages, gather supporting documentation, and update project tracking tools.
- Process Corporate Visa Transactions o Review, code, and prepare Visa expense submissions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with internal policies.
- Draft and Update Accounting Process Documentation o Contribute to the creation and refinement of standard operating procedures, workflows, and internal guides to support consistent financial practices.
- Digitize and Organize Finance Documents o Scan, file, and maintain digital records to support audit readiness and efficient document retrieval.
- Post Revenues from Online Donation Platforms o Download reports, reconcile deposits, and prepare entries for donation revenue.
- Support Accounts Receivable and Invoicing o Prepare invoices, track outstanding receivables, and follow up on missing information.
- Data Entry and Financial System Support o Enter financial data into accounting systems, verify accuracy, and assist with basic system maintenance tasks.
- Vendor and Donor Information Maintenance o Update contact details, banking information, and documentation in the finance database.
- Cross‑Department Collaboration o Maintain positive working relationships with colleagues across BGC Canada’s National Office to support information flow and best practices.
- Other Duties as Assigned o Provide general administrative and financial support as needed
Our Ideal Candidate
Currently enrolled in or recently completed a finance, business administration, operations management, or information technology program and/or have a strong interest in systems management, finance, or administration
- Demonstrated experience in dealing with various key stakeholders, including members, colleagues, volunteers, etc.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills (written and verbal)
- Knowledge of design software such as Canva and Adobe Suite
- High-level proficiency in Microsoft Suite, experience with SharePoint considered an asset
- Fluency in French is considered an asset
Eligibility
- Must be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment
- Must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment
- Must have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations
- Satisfactory clearance under the Enhanced Police Information Check.
