The Black Business & Professional Network (BBPN) is seeking a Finance & Accounting Officer (Volunteer) to support the organization’s financial processes, reporting, and accountability as operations expand across multiple programs.

This role is ideal for a detail-oriented, reliable individual with an accounting or finance background who is interested in contributing to a growing nonprofit environment. You will work closely with leadership to strengthen financial organization, improve reporting practices, and support compliance with nonprofit standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain and organize financial records and documentation
• Support the preparation and review of financial reports and summaries
• Assist with budget tracking across programs and funded initiatives
• Support development and documentation of financial procedures and internal controls
• Assist with audit preparation and financial documentation
• Monitor financial data for accuracy, completeness, and consistency
• Support implementation or improvement of financial systems and tools
• Ensure alignment with nonprofit financial compliance expectations

Qualifications and Experience:

• Background in accounting, finance, or a related field
• Experience with bookkeeping, financial reporting, or data management
• Familiarity with nonprofit financial practices is an asset
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to manage confidential information with integrity
• Proficiency with spreadsheets and financial tools
• Ability to work independently and meet timelines

• Bilingualism an asset

Time Commitment:
Approximately 3 to 5 hours per week with a flexible schedule and occasional virtual meetings
