The Opportunity:
The FASD Worker is an individual who is passionate about supporting children and youth with fetal alcohol spectrum disorder (FASD). The FASD Worker delivers services to support children/youth and their support network. The FASD Worker is skilled in delivering FASD education training to various community partners to contribute to the awareness of FASD and how it impacts the community. The FASD Worker values the importance of continuing to develop their own FASD knowledge to ensure evidence-based interventions. The successful candidate is capable of working independently but also sees the value of working with a team.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing education, resource location, and advocacy support to children/youth who have fetal alcohol spectrum disorder (FASD).
- Actively work with children/youth and their support network to increase independence.
- Provide education about FASD to the Ottawa, Prescott Russell, and Stormont Dundas Glengarry communities.
- Strong commitment with FASD knowledge development.
Qualifications
- Diploma or bachelor’s degree (social work or related human social field) and at least three years OR equivalent experience with vulnerable/at-risk populations, including individuals with disabilities
- 2 – 3 years’ experience working with the child and youth service system.
- Knowledge about child development.
- Experience working with individuals who have experienced trauma.
- Experience developing strength-based child/youth and support network plans.
- Strong commitment to the principles of Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Belonging.
- Bilingual (French and English) is preferred and will be prioritized.
- Demonstrated knowledge of FASD or commitment to knowledge development.
Position Details
- Full-time (35 hours per week), Permanent, Remote
- Salary Range: $51,770 – 59,536; Band 3
- Be available to attend (occasional in-person/client meetings/events); mileage will be reimbursed as per ABLE2 policy.
- While this position is remote, candidates must reside within ABLE2’s catchment area: Ottawa, Prescott, Russell, Glengarry, Stormont, and Dundas.
