POSITION: Facilities Lead Hand
REPORTS TO: Facilities Manager
SALARY RANGE: $39 - $42/hour
HOURS 40 hours/week
DESCRIPTION:
The role of the Facilities Lead Hand is to provide supervision and daily support to Facilities Maintenance Workers, ensuring effective and safe operations. Lead and assist with general maintenance and repairs, including carpentry, electrical, plumbing, painting, and mechanical tasks. Oversee contractor work, prepare cost estimates, and ensure compliance with safety, security, and fire regulations. Develop and monitor preventative maintenance schedules for buildings, equipment, and grounds. Maintain facility safety by inspecting doors, windows, and safety systems, coordinating emergency services when required. Handle waste and recycling, assist with cleaning, and support outdoor maintenance such as sidewalk and lawn care.
Provide administrative support by maintaining accurate records of inspections, fire drills, and safety reviews, and coordinate with the OH&S Coordinator. Monitor and manage maintenance and housekeeping inventories, process purchase orders, and maintain supplier relations. Support the Facilities Manager with documentation, tracking systems, policies, and workflow procedures, ensuring records such as maintenance logs and incident reports are accurate and up to date. Perform other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Grade 12 graduation.
- At least 4 years of recent related experience in facilities maintenance or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- 2 years of supervisory experience or demonstrated leadership experience in a team environment.
- Certificate in First Aid.
- Successful clearance of a criminal record check.
- Previous experience working in a low-barrier/supportive housing environment is an asset.
