
Face Off Against Hunger Team Recruitment Lead
Food Banks Mississauga is seeking volunteers to sit on its inaugural Face Off Against Hunger event committee. This committee serves to support Food Banks Mississauga staff in a signature community event which will raise funds to support neighbours facing food insecurity in Mississauga. As Team Recruitment Lead you will create a pipeline of participants to support the Community Partnerships Coordinator.
Duration: September 2026 - June 2027
Time Commitment: 10-15 hours per month
Location: Virtual, with one in-person meeting monthly on the third Wednesday of every month; attendance on event day (May 1, 2027)
Support: Face Off Against Hunger Committee Chair; Community Partnerships Coordinator
Training: Ongoing training on Food Banks Mississauga policies, mission, vision, values, roles and responsibilities, and key deliverables
Responsibilities:
- Create a pipeline of youth hockey teams, associations, schools, and community groups in Mississauga
- Assist in building relationships with hockey associations and clubs
- Coordinate communications and informational packages for coaches
- Monitor division capacity and track registrations accordingly
Qualifications:
- 19+ with a mature and positive attitude
- 2+ years of knowledge of youth hockey in Mississauga; previous volunteer experience is an asset
- Excellent research skills and ability to create a pipeline
- Ability to create a recruitment plan and waitlist
- Strong written and spoken English skills; other languages are a plus
- Respect diverse perspectives
- Capability to build and maintain positive working relationships
- Access to a personal computer and cell phone required
