About Us

The Canadian Center for Ethics & Corporate Policy champions ethical values in small to mid-sized Canadian businesses, by equipping organizations and individuals with resources and insights that foster responsible decision-making across corporate cultures.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a dynamic and entrepreneurial, contract Executive Director to provide strategic and operational leadership during an important phase of growth and renewal. This newly created role is ideal for a self-starter who brings a business-development mindset and is motivated to expand the organization’s reach, membership, and impact.

Working closely with a volunteer Board of Directors, the Executive Director will play a key role in shaping strategy, enhancing visibility, and driving member engagement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Board to define organizational priorities and develop strategic plans
  • Ensure alignment between mission, programs, operations, and strategic priorities
  • Lead and execute initiatives to grow membership and strengthen engagement
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, funder requirements, and organizational policies
  • Support Board committees and implementation of Board-approved initiatives
  • Drive organizational visibility through social media, partnerships, and strategic communications
  • Serve as a key representative of the Board, managing external relations, communications, and public-facing activities
  • Oversee day-to-day operations, including supervision of a part-time Administrative Assistant
  • Support the planning and delivery of events and programs (virtual and in-person)

Qualifications & Experience

  • Demonstrated leadership experience in the nonprofit, corporate, or public sector
  • Strong interest in ethics, governance, and responsible business practices
  • Proven ability to engage stakeholders, build partnerships, and drive growth
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience working with Boards and/or volunteer-led organizations
  • Highly self-directed, organized, and comfortable working independently
  • Proficiency with digital tools and active use of social media in a professional context

Additional Requirements

  • Available to attend occasional in-person events in the Greater Toronto Area
  • Flexible schedule with availability to support occasional events or meetings

Why Join Us

This is a unique opportunity to shape and grow a respected organization with a meaningful mission, while working flexibly in a contract leadership capacity. The Executive Director will have the autonomy to drive impact and help position the organization for long-term sustainability.

Additional Detail

The role is expected to average approximately 10 hours per week over the contract term. Workload may fluctuate depending on organizational priorities, events, and growth initiatives. As noted above the Executive Director will provide strategic leadership and administrative services to the organization as an independent contractor. The Executive Director will determine the manner in which services are delivered, subject to Board-approved objectives, deliverables, and reporting requirements. The successful candidate will be responsible for all applicable taxes, statutory remittances, insurance, and may provide services to other clients during the term of the engagement.
