Executive Director - Orthotics Prosthetics Canada (OPC)
ABOUT US
Orthotics Prosthetics Canada (OPC) is the national body for certified and registered orthotic and prosthetic professionals across Canada. OPC establishes and upholds national standards for education and professional practice, credentials clinicians and technicians, supports professional education, advocates for public protection, and promotes the advancement of the orthotic and prosthetic profession.
OPC's goal is to make sure that when someone in Canada needs orthotic or prosthetic care, they can count on safe, sustainable, and qualified services from a certified provider, no matter where they live.
Certified Orthotists and Prosthetists have extensive training in the treatment of a wide variety of pathologies (particularly related to nerves, muscles, and bones). OPC members understand, integrate, and apply knowledge of foundational sciences, including anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, biomechanics, gait analysis, and material science. Our members assess and fabricate custom solutions for pain relief, healing, mobility, and injury and deformity prevention. Ultimately, OPC Certified Clinicians & Registered Technicians focus on improving the quality of life of Canadians.
Certified Clinicians and Registered Technicians work as part of a multidisciplinary team that may include physiotherapists, occupational therapists, nurses, physicians, and medical specialists in orthopedics, physiatry, and more.
OPC is a federally incorporated non-profit organization and is governed by the Canada Not-for-profit Corporations Act.
