Reports To: Board of Directors, through the Board Chair or Executive Committee

The Opportunity

The Community Hospital Foundation is seeking an experienced and relationship-focused Executive Director to provide strategic leadership and advance the Foundation’s mission of securing philanthropic support for healthcare programs, services, equipment, capital projects, and community healthcare initiatives.

Reporting to the Board of Directors through the Board Chair or Executive Committee, the Executive Director will lead the Foundation’s fundraising strategy, strengthen donor and community relationships, provide operational leadership, and ensure responsible stewardship of charitable resources.

This is an opportunity for an accomplished nonprofit leader to make a visible and lasting impact on healthcare in the community while working closely with donors, hospital leadership, volunteers, community partners, and the Foundation Board.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the Foundation’s strategic and annual operating plans in partnership with the Board.
  • Lead fundraising and revenue-generation activities, including major gifts, annual giving, grants, sponsorships, events, planned giving, and capital campaigns.
  • Cultivate and steward major donors, community leaders, corporate partners, and other key stakeholders.
  • Represent the Foundation within the community and build strong relationships that support long-term philanthropic growth.
  • Provide executive advice, reporting, and recommendations to the Board and its committees.
  • Develop and monitor budgets, financial reporting, cash flow, audits, and appropriate stewardship of charitable funds.
  • Lead, coach, and develop employees and volunteers while fostering an accountable, respectful, and inclusive workplace.
  • Oversee communications, public campaigns, brand reputation, and community engagement.
  • Ensure appropriate compliance with charitable, privacy, governance, fundraising, gaming/licensing, and other applicable requirements.
  • Identify emerging opportunities and risks and recommend appropriate strategies to the Board.

What You Bring

  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in business, nonprofit management, communications, public administration, or a related field.
  • 5–10+ years of progressive leadership experience, including demonstrated fundraising responsibility.
  • Experience cultivating donor relationships and managing donor portfolios.
  • Experience working with a Board of Directors and preparing Board-level reports and recommendations.
  • Experience with budgeting, financial management, and organizational stewardship.
  • Excellent strategic, interpersonal, communication, negotiation, public speaking, and relationship-management skills.
  • The ability to exercise sound judgment, maintain confidentiality, manage competing priorities, and build trust with diverse stakeholders.
  • Healthcare foundation or healthcare philanthropy experience is considered an asset.
  • A master’s degree and/or CFRE designation is considered an asset.
  • A criminal record check will be required.
