Since 1957, the Ottawa Safety Council (OSC) has been a trusted leader in safety education, delivering programs, training, and awareness initiatives that protect our communities. Guided by our Vision Guiding communities toward safe roads, no matter how travelled,” OSC partners with local organizations, municipalities, school boards and volunteers across Ottawa and Eastern Ontario to close gaps in road safety and community well-being.

Reporting to an enthusiastic Board of Directors, the Executive Director (ED) provides strategic and operational leadership for OSC, driving the execution of its mission and advancing its impact in the community. This role calls for a collaborative, mission-driven, community-facing leader who can inspire staff, volunteers, and partners alike, fostering a culture of engagement, innovation, and accountability.

The Executive Director will:

  • Shape and communicate a compelling vision for the organization’s future
  • Lead the delivery of OSC’s programs and strategic priorities, including crossing guards and motorcycle training (and beyond)
  • Strengthen OSC’s public profile and community partnerships
  • Mentor and develop a high-performing interdisciplinary team
  • Build lasting relationships with funders, stakeholders, and community leaders

The ideal candidate thrives in a dynamic, multi-stakeholder environment and brings authenticity, creativity, and a genuine commitment to public service. Experience working with a governance Board, leading professional staff and volunteers in a not-for-profit or NGO setting is essential.

Candidate Profile

  • Minimum 10 years of progressive leadership experience, including at least 5 years in a senior management role
  • Proven record in strategy execution, team development, program management, and interest holder engagement
  • Exceptional communication, relationship-building, and advocacy skills
  • Collaborative, transparent, and integrity-driven leadership style
  • Passion for community safety and the ability to serve as a trusted advisor on public safety and security
  • Ability to communicate in English and French would be an asset
