
Executive Director
For over 35 years, WindReach Farm has been providing impactful and life changing programs and services for people of all ages and abilities. We use an accessible working farm environment to provide therapeutic programs to people of all abilities. We offer learning and experiential opportunities, with the goal of engaging with our participants to strengthen skills, independence, and physical well-being in a safe and nurturing environment. We are looking for an experienced Executive Director to help us fulfill this important undertaking. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will oversee the strategic and operational efficiencies of our programs and staff. This seasoned leader will not only understand the charity and non-profit sector but will also have experience in developing and implementing successful strategic and operational plans. Experience in hiring, managing, and developing staff is essential. Established relationships with local community groups is a plus. The Executive Director should also be highly effective in a leadership role that requires clear communication skills and decisiveness.
Objectives of this role
- Work closely with Board of Directors to assess and address issues affecting the organization.
- Oversee daily operations of the organization, providing executive direction for program strategies and efficiencies, compliance, and quality assurance.
- Identify and address staffing requirements for efficient and effective operations, and maintain a strong work culture that attracts and retains people while driving the organization’s mission; while managing staff members and clients whose experiences, cultures, and languages reflect the community served by the organization
- Develop an actionable plan to increase farm revenue and managing monthly cash flow without drifting from WindReach's mission.
- Create and maintain business/strategic plans for achieving goals and objectives set in collaboration with Board of Directors.
- Working partnership with the Foundation Board of Directors and Executive Director to meet aggressive annual fundraising goals, by supporting and securing financial support from foundations, corporations, individual donors, and government funding sources
- Work with staff and board on revenue sources and additional events, and oversee all external communications, including website, marketing collateral, newsletters, and social media
- Increase awareness and serve as the face of the organization by participation in external events to increase visibility, credibility, and market brand, as well as develop strategic partnerships to further increase community awareness and expand programs
- Build and lead an effective team that’s dedicated to fulfilling the organization’s mission through highly successful programs, community engagement, and fundraising
Required skills and qualifications
- Seven or more years of experience in senior management, preferably with nonprofit organizations
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong experience in government relations, public relations, marketing, and fundraising
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in business, human resources, or finance, or equivalent work experience
- Experience in developing and managing an annual budget in consultation with staff team leads
- Exceptional verbal, written, and visual communication skills
- Knowledge of leadership and management principles for charities and nonprofit organizations
- Proven success working with a Board of Directors
- Entrepreneurial mindset, with innovative approach to business planning
- Dynamic and charismatic team player who enjoys being the public face of an organization
- Strong computer skills with experience working in MS Office Suite
