Job Opportunity: Executive Director

After five years of dedicated service to our Organization, our Executive Director is retiring.

Open Sky Co-operative Ltd. (OSC) is looking for a visionary Executive Director (ED) to lead our unique, farm-based non-profit. Located near Sackville, N.B., OSC provides transitional support for young adults with mental health challenges or social disabilities (such as Autism). We focus on building life skills, fostering inclusion, and creating opportunities for independent living.

The Role at a Glance

As the ED, you will lead a dedicated team and manage a sustainable organization that serves as a model of inclusion in Eastern Canada. Your responsibilities are divided into four key areas:

• Programming & Operations (40%): Ensure our mission is met through high-quality programs; manage staff and provide hands-on support when needed.
• Outreach & Advocacy (25%): Act as the primary spokesperson; build relationships with families, government agencies, and the community.
• Financial Management (20%): Oversee the budget, ensure fiscal integrity, and work with the Fundraising Committee to secure sustainable funding.
• Board Governance (15%): Collaborate with the Board of Directors on strategy, reporting, and risk assessment.

What You Bring

Education & Technical Skills:

• A university degree in a related field.
• Training or experience in HR, finance, program design, or a helping profession (health/social work).
• Strong writing and organizational skills; experience with SAGE accounting is a plus.

Experience & Mindset:

• A background in non-profit leadership, mental health, or the disability sector.
• A collaborative leadership style that balances big-picture idealism with practical management.
• A deep respect for all people and a commitment to the co-operative values of inclusion.

Position Details

• Hours: 40 hours per week (flexible, with some evenings required).
• Salary: Commensurate with experience.
• Location: A beautiful sustainable farm on the outskirts of Sackville, N.B.
