The Mount Forest Family Health Team (“FHT”) is seeking an Executive Director (“ED”). The FHT is responsible for delivering primary healthcare to over 12,000 community members and this number is projected to grow by 30% in the next 10 years. The in-person/in office ED role is central to the successful operation of the FHT and reports directly to the FHT’s Board of Directors (“Board”).

The FHT operates within a shared administrative and clinical leadership model. The ED will work in close collaboration with the Family Health Organization (FHO) and the Board to ensure that primary health care objectives are achieved.

The ED is responsible for:

  1. Strategic planning and implementation of the FHT Strategic Plan – you will:
    1. Assist the Board in the development and implementation of strategic planning to guide the ongoing operation of the FHT and the development of programs and services.
    2. Develop metrics and reports to track the progress of the strategic plan and provide quarterly reporting to the Board.
  2. Community Relationships – you will:
    1. Build collaborative working relationships with stakeholders, including the MOH, Hospitals, other FHTs, the Guelph Wellington OHT, community and provincial agencies and the local municipal government.
    2. Represent the FHT on local, regional and provincial committees and networks.
    3. Identify and develop new strategic public and private partnerships that benefit the FHT.
    4. Develop, implement and maintain effective communication and public relations strategies to promote FHT services and value.
  3. Human Resources – you will:
    1. Monitor FHT staffing requirements and organizational structure to ensure compliance with MOH prescriptions.
    2. Develop, implement and maintain effective recruitment strategies and programs.
    3. Determine and monitor training and development needs of staff, based on current and emerging competency requirements and ensure the appropriate allocation of resources for continuing education.
    4. Conduct performance reviews and provide on-going performance feedback and coaching.
    5. Have supervisory responsibility for:
      1. Nurse Practitioners, Nurses and other Regulated Health Professionals
      2. Other Allied Healthcare service providers
      3. Administrative Staff iv. Information Services Staff
  4. Financial Management – you will:
    1. Ensure the development and implementation of a sound financial management plan, which balances service delivery and funding requirements. This will include preparation of the business plan and annual budget, the control of expenditures within the approved budget, provision of financial reports and other statements to the Board and the MOH and compliance with audit recommended actions.
    2. Develop, implement and maintain an effective process for facilities management, purchasing and information management systems.
    3. Develop, implement and maintain effective internal control and due diligence processes to manage risk.
  5. Programs and Services Development – you will:
    1. Review and approve all short-term and long-term IT infrastructure plans and improvements
    2. Ensure appropriate systems are in place to enhance service provision and protect patient confidentiality.
    3. Ensure quality assurance systems are in place to measure and monitor the quality of the FHT’s services.
    4. Ensure MOH required program reports are accurate, outcome-based and submitted on time.
    5. Develop plans for continuous improvements to programs and delivery.
    6. Participate in research activities aimed at innovative approaches to care, database development and practice-based initiatives.

Our ideal candidate has:

  1. Completed an undergraduate degree
  2. Management experience in a healthcare environment
  3. Proficiency in computer hardware and software, including those used in healthcare
  4. Knowledge of applicable legislation and requirements, including health and safety, employment and privacy
  5. An appreciation for a rural lifestyle with the ability to meet challenges that can arise in a rural environment.
  6. A valid Ontario Driver’s License and access to a vehicle.

Remuneration package: Approximately $93,000 - $96,387, plus a comprehensive benefits package.
