About Us

Over 430 million people live with disabling hearing loss, yet most do not have access to the hearing care and hearing aids they need. World Wide Hearing Foundation International (WWH) is a dynamic, entrepreneurial and innovation-driven nonprofit organization headquartered in Montreal with a mission to change that because access to hearing care ensures that children and adults with hearing loss can break free from social isolation and reach their full potential. Hearing is critical to a child’s development and is essential for their ability to communicate and go to school. Our work therefore helps ensure better mental health, greater educational attainment and access to jobs, and higher levels of economic productivity.

WWH works collaboratively with local partners and governments across the world to build long-term systems that supply affordable hearing aids and hearing-test solutions in lower- and middle-income countries and underserved communities, including Cameroon, Canada, Guatemala, Kenya, Peru, Philippines, and Zimbabwe. All our projects focus on sustainability, capacity building, community engagement, public health, and last-mile delivery in international development. Our supporters have included Google.org, the World Health Organization (WHO), the McConnell Foundation, TELUS, and government agencies.

Our work is expanding—and we’re looking for someone who’s excited to help shape it. Could that be you?

Location: The role is fully remote, with a preference for candidates based in Montreal to facilitate occasional in-person collaboration.

Start Date: Immediate.

Reports to: Board of Directors

Salary Range: $90,000–$110,000 CAD annually, with performance-based bonus.

Role Overview

The Executive Director (ED) leads the strategic, financial, and operational direction of World Wide Hearing (WWH). The ED ensures the organization’s long-term sustainability and global influence by driving innovation, partnerships, impact delivery, and growth.

This is a fundraising-led Executive Director role. While the ED oversees strategy, programs, and operations, success in this position is primarily defined by securing and stewarding institutional, philanthropic, corporate, and government funding. The Executive Director personally leads grant writing, donor cultivation, and long-term relationship management to grow WWH’s revenue and scale its impact.

The ED supervises a small international team of 3–4 people, along with consultants.

Strategic Leadership

  • Set and execute organizational strategy in partnership with the Board.
  • Provide strategic oversight of projects implemented with local partners, in collaboration with the Program Manager responsible for day-to-day program design, implementation, and impact monitoring.
  • Lead international partnerships with local organizations and governments.
  • Represent WWH publicly as a spokesperson and sector advocate.
  • Strengthen organizational systems, financial oversight, and compliance.

Fundraising & Resource Mobilization

  • Lead all fundraising efforts across corporate and family foundations, governments, and major donors
  • Identify and write grants and maintain strong pipelines of opportunities through research and outreach.
  • Drive visibility and storytelling to support donor engagement.
  • Carry a clear growth mandate: scale WWH’s programs and impact by securing additional resources.

Program & Operations Oversight

  • Oversee international programs.
  • Ensure programs are locally led and responsive to community needs.
  • Supervise and mentor a team of 3–4 people. This is a lean organization; we are looking for someone comfortable working hands-on and strategically.
  • Oversee budgets, operations, financial reporting, audit and risk management.

The Board is highly supportive, and you will not be alone—WWH has strong local partners and consultants in each country. This is an opportunity to build, refine, and shape systems in a growing organization.

Candidate Profile

Required:

  • 7+ years of progressive leadership experience in nonprofit, social enterprise, or global health.
  • Demonstrated success securing six-figure grants (and supporting larger awards an asset).
  • Proven hands-on grant writing and donor relationship management experience.
  • Experience managing international partnerships and programs.
  • Strong financial, contractual, and compliance acumen.
  • Exceptional communication, leadership, and relationship-building skills.
  • Thrives in environments where initiative, problem-solving, and independent decision-making are essential.
  • This role suits someone who enjoys balancing big-picture strategy with hands-on execution.

Preferred:

  • Background in global health, disability, hearing care, or health systems.
  • Experience working in low-resource or cross-cultural settings.
  • Strong English proficiency required, with French considered an advantage.
  • Experience in startup or entrepreneurial environments.
  • Willingness and availability to travel. Travel is occasional and planned around fundraising and program needs.
