411 Seniors Centre Society is a dynamic, community-based non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the independence, well-being, and quality of life of older adults across Vancouver. Through programs in community programs, navigation & peer support, digital literacy, social meals, advocacy, senior’s wellness, and volunteer engagement, 411 Seniors plays a vital role in supporting an inclusive, empowered, and connected community of seniors.

We are seeking a forward-thinking and collaborative Executive Director to lead our organization into its next stage of growth and impact.

Position Summary

The Executive Director (ED) provides strategic leadership, operational direction, and organizational oversight for 411 Seniors Centre Society. Working closely with the Board of Directors, staff team, volunteers, and community partners, the ED ensures the effective delivery of programs, sound financial management, and continued alignment with the Centre’s mission, vision, and values. This leadership role is ideal for a mission-driven individual committed to supporting seniors in the community.

Salary Range $85,000-$95,000 / Position includes benefits package and 3-4 weeks paid holidays. Position in on site in mid-town Vancouver

Key Responsibilities

1. Leadership & Strategic Direction

Develop and implement strategic priorities that advance the organization’s mission.

Foster an inclusive, respectful, and accountable organizational culture.

Advise and collaborate with the Board on governance, policy, and strategic planning; ensure AGMs, EGMs, and Board meetings adhere to bylaws and legal requirements.

Serve as the public representative of 411 Seniors, engaging with partners, media, community groups, and stakeholders.

Provide leadership, coaching, and development support to staff; assist staff in identifying funding, partnership, and program opportunities.

2. Operational Management

Oversee daily operations, ensuring high-quality program and service delivery.

Supervise, mentor, and support a diverse team of staff and volunteers; build organizational capacity through training and coaching.

Develop, implement, and update policies, procedures, and manuals to ensure compliance with legislation, funder requirements, and best practices.

Work with the Personnel Committee on HR functions including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and staff development.

3. Financial Oversight

Collaborate with the Finance Committee, Accountant, and Treasurer to oversee financial health, budgeting, and forecasting.

Lead efforts to diversify funding sources, including government grants, fundraising campaigns, private donations, and community partnerships.

Oversee financial reporting, audits, tax filings, and grant compliance.

Build and maintain strong relationships with funders and donors to secure sustainable financial support.

4. Community Engagement & Advocacy

Advocate for seniors’ rights and well-being at municipal, provincial, and national levels.

Build strong relationships with community organizations, government agencies, and sector partners.

Qualifications

1. General

5+ years of experience in nonprofit management, or related field (or equivalent experience in government).

Proven financial management expertise, including budgeting, forecasting, cash-flow oversight, and working with auditors and finance committees.

Demonstrated success securing and managing diverse funding sources (grants, donations, partnerships).

Experience supervising staff, coaching teams, and managing HR processes.

2. Financial & Operational Skills

Strong ability to develop and monitor annual budgets and interpret financial statements.

Understanding of nonprofit accounting, CRA compliance, and funder reporting requirements.

Experience managing organizational risk, contracts, and internal policies.

3. Leadership & Governance

Ability to work effectively with a Board of Directors and support governance processes.

Collaborative leadership style that promotes accountability, inclusion, and staff development.

Proven communication skills including relationship-building and social skills.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to build strong relationships with funders, partners, donors, volunteers, and community Stakeholders.

Comfort representing the organization publicly and advocating on seniors’ issues.

4. Assets

Knowledge of seniors’ services, community resources, and sector issues.

Familiarity with QuickBooks, CRM tools, and nonprofit administrative systems.

Knowledge of the Community Based Seniors Services sector
