Executive Director
Step Forward Health Society is a registered charity committed to removing financial barriers to mental health care in Delta and surrounding communities. Through partnerships, education, and direct service delivery, we strive to build a more inclusive and accessible mental health system for all.
Position Summary:
The Executive Director is the chief executive of Step Forward Health Society and is responsible for the successful leadership, day-to-day operations, and strategic direction of the organization. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director ensures the organization remains mission-aligned, financially sustainable, and responsive to community needs.
We are looking for an inspiring and compassionate leader with a strong appreciation for mental health, a proven track record in non-profit or community-based management, and a collaborative approach to leadership and relationship building.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Operations
• Lead day-to-day operations and long-term strategic planning
• Oversee administration, governance, and alignment with the organization’s mission
• Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and values-driven team culture
People Management
• Supervise and support staff, volunteers, and service providers
• Collaborate with community partners, committees, and advisors to enhance programming and outreach
Program Development & Evaluation
• Work with service providers to plan, implement, and oversee both in-person and virtual programs
• Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness and community impact
• Ensure programs reflect current needs and strategic goals
Fiscal Management
• Oversee annual budgeting, financial forecasting, and reporting alongside Society’s Treasurer
• Ensure strong financial stewardship, compliance, and sustainability
Fundraising & Donor Relations
• Lead fundraising initiatives and cultivate donor and sponsor relationships
• Secure grants and other funding opportunities to support the organization’s mission
Communications & Community Engagement
• Represent the organization publicly and strengthen visibility across the community
• Develop marketing, outreach, and communications strategies
• Advocate for accessible mental health support and foster meaningful partnerships
Board Relations
• Work closely with the Board of Directors to set strategic priorities
• Report on progress and outcomes; ensure strong governance practices
Qualifications:
• 5 years proven leadership experience in the non-profit, health, or community sector
• 2 years experience in an Executive Director role
• Experience with events and outreach initiatives
• Education/Experience in business/marketing/people management/health or mental health
• Deep understanding of mental health challenges and services
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
• Experience with budgeting, fundraising, grant writing, and program development
• Ability to work collaboratively and engage diverse stakeholders
• Comfortable using social media platforms, ability to use Excel, Word, Teams, Canva, and Keela Donor Management, other related software.
• Passionate about creating equitable, inclusive, and sustainable mental health services
