Society of Saint Vincent de Paul – Edmonton Central Council
The Society of Saint Vincent de Paul (SSVP) is a global lay Catholic organization dedicated to serving those in need with compassion and dignity. In Edmonton and surrounding communities, the Edmonton Central Council coordinates 20 local parish-based conferences and more than 600 volunteers who provide essential supports—including food, clothing, furnishings, and friendship—to nearly 15,000 people each year.
We are seeking our first Executive Director (ED) to provide strategic and operational leadership for this growing organization. Reporting to the President, the ED will play a pivotal role in advancing the Society’s mission and strengthening its presence across Alberta.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead strategy, operations, and community engagement in collaboration with the President and Board.
- Support local Councils and Conferences while fostering alignment with regional and national SSVP bodies.
- Develop and execute fundraising strategies to meet resource needs.
- Build relationships with partners, donors, volunteers, Catholic Church representatives, and the broader community.
- Oversee staff, volunteers, finances, and organizational growth with transparency and accountability.
- Serve as spokesperson and advocate, promoting the Society’s mission and impact.
The Ideal Candidate
- Undergraduate degree (or equivalent lived experience) plus progressively senior leadership in the not-for-profit/charitable sector.
- Proven success leading strategy, programs, and people; strong governance and Board relations experience.
- Skilled communicator, relationship builder, and consensus facilitator.
- Demonstrated fundraising ability and financial acumen.
- Experience working with and supporting volunteers.
- Knowledge of or familiarity with the local Catholic community is an asset.
- Fluency in English required; French or other languages an asset.
