Job Overview
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the incumbent in this position will be responsible for overseeing the smooth operation and strategic direction of the Acne and Rosacea Society of Canada (ARSC). As the sole employee, the Executive Director will ensure sound fiscal and administrative management while collaborating with the Board of Directors and members of the Medical Advisory Committee to promote awareness of acne and rosacea through educational initiatives in support of the Society’s mission.

Key Responsibilities
Fundraising

  • Approach existing sponsors with proposals to continue their annual corporate sponsorship funding.
  • Introduce ARSC to new sponsors and propose new projects to begin annual sponsorship.
  • Maintain corporate relationships with sponsors.
  • Renew annual Recommended Seal agreements for ARSC’s Acne OTC treatment program and seek new participants.

Websites

  • Monitor and maintain ARSC’s two bilingual, WordPress websites (acneaction.ca and rosaceahelp.ca) and regularly update plugins to improve functionality and security.
  • Create and add content approved by one or two Medical Advisory Committee members when needed and during Acne Awareness Month and Rosacea Awareness Month.

Social Media

  • Create videos and posts for ARSC’s social channels (LinkedIn, Instagram and TikTok); publish and promote.
  • Draft reports as needed for stakeholders (corporate sponsors, Board of Directors and Medical Advisory Committee) with analytics to show impact of social media outreach.

Google Ads

  • Maintain and update ARSC’s Google Ads account in line with Google requirements.
  • Create new ads and improve existing ads.
  • Monitor account for progress.

Google Analytics

  • Monitor analytics from websites to assess progress and report to stakeholders (Board of Directors, Medical Advisory Committee, sponsors, etc.) about impact of awareness months.
  • Create awareness month content and write one to two articles for websites.
  • Interview patients as needed.
  • Create and post social media posts/videos to promote the focus during the month.
  • Create a post-event report showing website and social media impact and distribute to Board of Directors, Medical Advisory Committee and sponsors.

Collaborations with Board of Directors and Medical Advisory Committee

  • Reach out to Medical Advisory Committee for patient testimonials, social media videos and website content writing and review as needed.
  • Set up Annual General Meeting and invite all. As chair of the board, oversee the meeting and have the deciding vote if needed. Record the meeting and distribute minutes.

Patient Advocacy

  • Collaborate on patient group submissions to the Canadian Drug Agency (CDA) to increase new, effective and safe drug options for ARSC’s patient communities.

Administration

  • Undertake financial and regulatory requirements as per ARSC’s by-laws.
  • File deductions (QST and GST).
  • Ensure ARSC has sufficient funding to meet all requirements and practise sound fiscal responsibility and accountability.
  • File annual return provincially and federally to keep ARSC in good standing.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Minimum of five (5) years of senior management experience, preferably in a nonprofit organization.
  • Proven ability to secure multi-sponsor funding.
  • Effective at building and maintaining relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Sound financial acumen, including experience with budget management.
  • Excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills. French/English bilingualism is considered a strong asset.
  • Strong English writing abilities.
  • Proficiency with Canva, WordPress, Zoom, Google Ads, Google Analytics, video editing, social media and ad promotion.
