
Events Manager (Remote/Unpaid Volunteer)

Position Summary
The Events Manager is responsible for coordinating and overseeing Empowered Futures’ events and volunteer team. This position ensures that events are planned and executed efficiently, within budget, and aligned with the organization’s mission and goals. The manager will coordinate logistics, mentor volunteers, collaborate with vendors and staff, and support leadership in delivering impactful, high-quality events.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the planning, organization, and execution of a variety of events, including conferences, fundraising initiatives, workshops, and community programs.
- Coordinate logistics such as venue setup, catering, AV equipment, floor plans, and permits to ensure seamless event delivery.
- Support vendor management by sourcing, negotiating, and maintaining relationships with external service providers.
- Recruit, train, and manage event volunteers, assigning roles, providing guidance, and ensuring alignment with event objectives.
- Collaborate with Marketing and Communications teams to support promotional campaigns, including social media, email communications, and event materials.
- Track event budgets, manage expenditures, and report on post-event financials as required.
- Gather and assess feedback from attendees, volunteers, and vendors; prepare post-event reports and recommendations for improvement.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Event Management, Marketing, Communications, Hospitality, or related field.
- 2–3 years of experience in event coordination or management.
- Proven ability to manage volunteers and delegate tasks effectively.
- Strong organizational, multitasking, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and team collaboration skills.
- Comfortable working under pressure and handling multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Experience with event management tools or project management software (e.g., Asana, Cvent, Bizzabo) is an asset.
