Events Assistant Full-Time, Contract Position – 37.5 hours per week Events Assistant (Seasonal – October to December)

The Events Assistant plays a key role in ensuring every community-led initiative runs smoothly and that organizers, donors, and volunteers feel supported and appreciated. This is a dynamic, hands-on role that brings our mission to life during one of the busiest and most inspiring times of the year. What You’ll Do The Events Assistant plays a hands-on role in supporting community fundraisers and food drives that strengthen Feed Nova Scotia’s mission and community impact. They respond to inquiries from groups and individuals interested in organizing events, share information about Feed Nova Scotia’s work, and help structure initiatives for success. This includes providing on-site support such as event setup and teardown, supervising and guiding volunteers, collecting donations, and reconnecting with past organizers to renew relationships. You also support volunteers through orientation, scheduling, and role guidance, ensuring each person feels equipped and valued in their contribution. They coordinate with the Volunteer Services team to submit clear and timely volunteer requests for upcoming events. In partnership with the Philanthropy and Engagement team, the Events Assistant helps share key event details, donor feedback, and consistent, inspiring messages about our mission. They may also conduct thank-you visits to community and retail partners to express appreciation during the busy holiday season. In addition, the role provides essential administrative and logistical support, maintaining accurate records of third-party events, tracking and replenishing supplies, and assisting with event reporting and donation preparation. Regular hours of work are from Thursday to Monday between the hours of 10:00 am and 8:00 pm. Hours of work are flexible depending on organizational need. A typical workday is 7.5 hours per day but will require flexibility due to the nature of the role. Important Information to know about the Events Assistant position:

This position will be responsible for transporting event supplies to and from offsite events. Therefore, the

successful candidate will be required to drive the Feed Nova Scotia events van and therefore must be

added to Feed Nova Scotia’s vehicle insurance policy. This requires a valid driver’s license and a recent

drivers abstract showing clean record for at least three years. The cost of the driver’s abstract will be

covered by Feed Nova Scotia. The candidate will need access to a personal vehicle when the events van is

not available. When a personal vehicle is used for work purposes, they will be reimbursed at a rate of

$0.58/km.

Compensation

The rate of pay for this position is $21.96/hr, plus 4% (in lieu of earned vacation), paid out on a biweekly

basis.
