About Us:

Rainbow Faith and Freedom is a community and human rights-focused organization that is dedicated to addressing homophobia and transphobia in places of worship.

RFF is looking for outgoing and passionate volunteers, to be a part of our organization that is committed to developing long-term change.

We believe, decreasing and lessening the effects of religious-based LGBTI discrimination can, and will, make changing punitive laws easier and improve the lives of LBGTQI+ people so they can be who they are, love who they want, and find safe and accepting places to practice their faith (worship).

Job Overview:

The Event and Outreach Volunteer plays an important role in creating welcoming, inclusive and successful community events.

Volunteers will assist with event related activities, data collection, public education and establishing a strong relationship with the community.

As a volunteer you will help us to drive our initiatives to bettering the lives of 2SLGBTQI+ individuals. We aim to establish and create spaces in which people can feel safe in their religious and spiritual communities all over Canada, and soon all over the world!

RFF will be attending Toronto Pride the weekend of June 26-28, 2026, to showcase our allyship, educational resources and opening the discussion between faith and homophobia and transphobia.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assisting with Pride event planning and display booth set up and take down
  • Produce information on resources and programs that RFF delivers
  • Collaborate and coordinate with RFF staff and other volunteers in event execution
  • Collect public stories and feedback from community members
  • Support registration and newsletter sign up
  • Showcase a welcoming and compassionate demeanor to event attendees
  • Facilitate open dialogue with the general public on RFF initiatives
  • Help with promotion of RFF’s vision and objectives while increasing public awareness
  • Maintain a safe, organized and inclusive environment
  • Represent Rainbow Faith and Freedom in a professional manner

Qualifications:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
  • Be an ally or have experience working with individuals of the 2SLGBTQI+ community
  • Prior experience working in a nonprofit organization is an asset
  • Strong sense of advocacy and willingness to establish real change
  • Previous volunteer, paid customer service or event coordination experience is an asset but not required

Training and Support

Volunteers will receive:

  • Orientation and event-specific training
  • Information about organizational program and services
  • Will receive scheduling confirmation and support from RFF management

Location: Hybrid/Toronto, Ontario

Reports to: Events and Campaign Officer or HR Coordinator

Commitment:

Flexible volunteer shift available

  • Volunteers MUST be available entire Pride 2026 weekend
  • 4 - 10 hours/week
