The Opportunity
We are seeking passionate Event Support Volunteers to join our team and help create a welcoming, trauma-informed environment for youth starting their financial empowerment journey. You'll be supporting our kickoff event for the Financial Empowerment Program, working directly with marginalized youth aged 16-29 in the GTA.
This is a meaningful opportunity as we launch our flagship Financial Empowerment program with up to 50 youth participants. You'll have the opportunity to directly impact their experience while helping build a supportive foundation for their transformation journey.

Our youth participants often face significant barriers and may have experienced trauma related to financial stress, family responsibilities, or systemic inequities. A well-organized, welcoming event environment can be the difference between a participant feeling safe to engage or leaving early. Your support will directly impact:

- Accessibility - Removing logistical barriers ensures all participants can focus on learning
- Community building - Smooth event flow allows meaningful connections to form
- First impressions - Professional, caring event support builds trust and sets participants up for success
How You'll Support the Event Working alongside our existing team, volunteers will assist with various aspects of event coordination including:
- Event setup and logistics support
- Registration and participant welcome
- Food service and hospitality coordination
- Family support (some participants attend with children)
- Event documentation and social media content
- General troubleshooting and participant assistance
- Cleanup and wrap-up activities
Specific tasks will be assigned based on volunteer interests, skills, and event needs on the day.
Qualifications
Essential:
- Reliable and punctual with strong commitment to showing up
- Comfortable working with diverse youth from various backgrounds
- Non-judgmental attitude and respect for participant confidentiality
- Basic communication skills and ability to follow directions
- Willingness to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
Preferred:
- Experience volunteering with youth or community organizations
- Basic understanding of trauma-informed approaches
- Previous event support or hospitality experience
- Comfortable with children (for childcare support role)
- Basic photography/social media skills (for documentation role)
Background Check: Vulnerable Sector Check not required, but we may ask for a self-declaration form
Time Commitment
- Volunteer Orientation: Wednesday, September 3, 7:30-8:30 PM (online)
- Event Day: 10:45 AM - 5:00 PM (includes setup and cleanup)
