Event Coordinator - South African Film Festival

Who we are:

Education without Borders is a Canadian-based non-profit organization that provides educational opportunities for disadvantaged and at-risk children through initiatives in South Africa and Canada including after-school support programs in Math, English, Science, school leadership and youth mentorship.​

Our key fundraising event is the nationwide, virtual annual South African Film Festival (SAFF) held in November, which presents feature films, documentaries and shorts that explore the culture, history and politics of South Africa – films that inspire, inform, and entertain. In 2025, SAFF celebrates its 15th anniversary. All proceeds from the Festival support EwB initiatives in South Africa and Canada.

EwB has the following volunteer opportunity available, working remotely from home, supporting both EwB and/or SAFF.

Event Coordinator

Using your creativity, you will assist the SAFF Committee and film festival partners in the developing of live events (opening film party and other events), coordinate event logistics, and support promotion and social media activities.

You excel at organizing, have some experience in event and volunteer management. An interest in the South African films and culture definitely an asset!

Expected time commitment: 4-6 hours a month, on a flexible ongoing basis with more activity in October/early November leading up to and during the film festival. The work will mainly be remote with on-site during the events/festival in either Vancouver or Toronto.
