Event Assistant

The Muslim Literary Festival (MLF) is seeking an organized, proactive, and detail-oriented Event Assistant to support the planning and execution of the festival and related programming. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in fast-paced environments, enjoys working collaboratively, and is passionate about community-centered events. The Event Assistant will support pre-event coordination, assist with organizing materials and logistics, help coordinate volunteers, speakers, and vendors, and contribute to the smooth on-site execution of the festival. Responsibilities include managing session timing and transitions, supporting registration and event flow, welcoming speakers, troubleshooting issues as they arise, and assisting with post-event wrap-up. This position offers valuable hands-on experience in event coordination and operations within a dynamic and creative environment.

• Support pre-event coordination to ensure festival logistics are organized and on track (materials, schedules, volunteers, vendors)
• Prepare and organize all event materials (badges, signage, attendee and speaker lists)
• Assist with coordinating volunteers, speakers, and vendor needs ahead of the event
• Support on-site execution across registration, session rooms, and overall flow
• Manage session timing and transitions during the festival
• Welcome and support speakers onsite
• Troubleshoot issues and escalate as needed
• Assist with post-event wrap-up
