Volunteer Role: ESL Conversation Circle Leader
Location: The Salvation Army Toronto Harbour Light – 160 Jarvis Street, Toronto
Time Commitment: Every Wednesday, 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM

Role Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and welcoming volunteer to lead our weekly ESL Conversation Circle, supporting community members who are learning English. The Conversation Circle provides a safe and encouraging space for learners to practice speaking, build confidence, and improve their conversational English skills.

Responsibilities:

Facilitate group discussions and activities focused on everyday English conversation.

Create a welcoming and inclusive environment for learners of diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.

Encourage participation, gently correct errors, and model clear, natural English speech.

Plan engaging weekly conversation topics, activities, or exercises to support practical language use.

Provide cultural context and help participants practice real-life communication scenarios.

Qualifications:

Strong command of the English language with clear communication skills.

Patience, empathy, and enthusiasm for supporting adult learners.

Experience teaching, tutoring, or mentoring (ESL or education background an asset but not required).

Ability to lead groups and foster an inclusive, supportive environment.
