About the role

You will convert consumer voice recordings into accurate, timestamped text for training and evaluating conversational AI. This volunteer entry-level position is ideal for detail-oriented candidates with strong English listening and typing skills who want to start a career in voice products.

Key responsibilities

  • Accurately transcribe short to medium-length consumer voice recordings (clear and noisy audio).
  • Apply company transcription guidelines and style rules consistently.
  • Add timestamps, speaker labels, and simple metadata when required.
  • Flag and categorize audio quality issues, sensitive content, or unclear segments.
  • Perform basic quality review and proofreading of transcriptions.
  • Meet daily/weekly productivity and accuracy targets.
  • Participate in training sessions, feedback loops, and periodic calibration tasks.

Required qualifications

  • Native or near-native proficiency in English.
  • Typing speed of 50+ WPM with high accuracy.
  • Strong listening, grammar, and punctuation skills.
  • Comfortable working with web-based transcription tools.
  • Reliable internet connection and a quiet workspace.
  • Ability to follow detailed style guides and take constructive feedback.

Preferred

  • Previous transcription, captioning, or voice-data experience.
  • Familiarity with conversational AI concepts or consumer voice products.
  • Basic experience with audio editing (Audacity) or timestamping tools.
  • Additional language skills for bilingual transcription tasks.

Tools & training

  • You will use a web-based transcription platform and be provided a documented style guide.
  • Ongoing feedback will be provided.
  • Opportunity for cross-training in quality assurance, annotation, and conversational analysis.

Performance metrics

  • Target accuracy: ≥95% (after training).Productivity: 1–3 hours of transcribable audio per day (adjustable by audio complexity).
  • Turnaround times and QA pass rates tracked weekly.
