Reporting to the President & CEO and the Chief Research Officer, the Education Specialist will be responsible for developing, delivering, and evaluating bilingual (English & French) educational resources and programs that enhance colorectal cancer awareness and patient support and education. This role requires strong content acumen in colorectal cancer, including knowledge of screening, treatment, and survivorship, to ensure materials and programming are accurate, accessible, and impactful.
The Education Specialist will collaborate with CCRAN staff, medical experts, patients, and community partners to expand CCRAN’s education portfolio, while ensuring alignment with national best practices and the needs of patients and caregivers.

The Colorectal Cancer Resource & Action Network (CCRAN) is a national, patient-focused organization championing the health and wellbeing of Canadians affected by colorectal cancer, and others at risk of developing the disease. We provide support, education, and advocacy to patients and their caregivers to help improve patients’ quality of life and their longevity. CCRAN has expanded its patient-focused mandate to now serve a population of cancer patients outside the colorectal cancer space to ultimately reduce the burden of cancer in Canada.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and evaluate bilingual educational content (print, digital, and multimedia) focused on colorectal cancer screening, treatment, survivorship, and patient support.
- Lead the creation and delivery of educational presentations, webinars, and workshops for patients, caregivers, healthcare professionals, and the general public.
- Collaborate with CCRAN’s Medical & Scientific Advisory Board to ensure accuracy and clinical relevance of all materials.
- Support patient education initiatives by maintaining and distributing resources to cancer centres, hospitals, and community organizations.
- Translate and adapt existing educational resources to ensure accessibility across English- and French-speaking communities.
- Conduct needs assessments with patients and caregivers to inform resource development and program design.
- Measure and report on educational program outcomes to guide continuous improvement.
- Represent CCRAN at educational events, conferences, and partner meetings as required.
- Oversee annual updates to CCRAN’s educational tools, including My Colorectal Cancer Consultant, and My Colorectal Cancer Treatment Side Effects
Required Skills & Knowledge
- In-depth knowledge of colorectal cancer (screening, treatment, survivorship) through lived experience, academic study, or professional background.
- Experience as a healthcare or science professional an asset.
- Must be bilingual (English & French) with strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Superior knowledge translation and mobilization skills
- Demonstrated ability to create accessible, engaging, and evidence-based educational materials.
- Experience with adult education, health education, or patient engagement considered an asset.
- Strong presentation and facilitation skills for diverse audiences.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 Suite and virtual learning platforms (Zoom, Teams, etc.).
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Collaborative team player with the ability to work independently.
Employment Details
- Full-time, exclusive position (employees may not engage in competing professional activities outside CCRAN).
- Location: Remote within Canada
- Salary: $60,000 annually.
