POSITION: Education Coordinator

LOCATION: Remote

REPORTS TO: Managing Director and Executive Director

TIME COMMITMENT: 5-7 hours/week

ABOUT US:

The Community Climate Council (CCC) is based in Peel Region, Ontario, led by a committed

team of environmental advocate volunteers who are driven by the urgency of the climate crisis.

Founded with the vision of creating a platform for local voices to demand action, our work is

rooted in community-led solutions. We approach every project with a focus on collaboration,

and equity, ensuring that our efforts are both community-centered and solution-driven.

ROLE DESCRIPTION:

The Community Climate Council has developed a series of free materials for youth that are

available on our website. Now, we need to bring the materials to teachers across the region so

they can use them in their classrooms. This is where you come in! We are seeking a dynamic

and personable Education Coordinator to support the Community Climate Council by managing

our partnerships with educational institutions and promoting our educational resources and

opportunities. In this role, you will play a key part in ensuring the success of our educational

programs by managing outreach efforts, developing school partnerships, and creating

meaningful, well-supported experiential learning opportunities for students.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Partnership Building ○ Connect with EcoSchools in Peel Region and Greater Toronto Area to see how we

can collaborate.

○ Lead outreach efforts with secondary and post-secondary educational institutions to build relationships and create student placement (co-op,

internship)opportunities.

• Educational Resource Offerings ○ Connect with teachers and guidance counsellors to raise awareness of our guest

speaking, guest lecture, and workshops offerings and secure teaching

opportunities.

○ Promote and share our educational materials across various grades (Municipal Deputation Workbook, Climate Hub, and Ephemeral Education).

○ Gather feedback on our educational offerings such as our ephemeral education colouring pages, Climate Hub, Kahoot, and others.

○ Update our programs and materials as needed to meet different audience needs, curriculum ties, or align with justice, equity, diversity and inclusion.

• Communication & Collaboration: ○ Identify key contacts within partner schools and establish clear communication

and referral protocols.

○ Research and deliver community outreach initiatives to promote professional development opportunities (ex., internships) and engage diverse student

populations.

○ Coordinate with internal departments to assess internship needs and ensure appropriate role placement and supervision.

• Program Development: ○ Research funding and grant opportunities related to internship and experiential

education programs.

○ Collaborate with the Grants team to draft and submit grant applications.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Skills and Experience: ○ Bachelor’s degree in Education, Environment, or a related field focused on youth

development or experiential education, or an equivalent combination of

education and lived experience.

○ Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders.

○ Excellent organizational and time-management skills. ○ Familiarity with database management and administrative tools (e.g., Google

Sheets).

○ Organization and ability to prepare packages to promote our free materials for distribution and think creatively to get materials out in the community.

■Marketing skills an asset ○ Knowledge of the Ontario school system and school boards would be an asset. ○ French as a second language would be an asset. ○ Proficiency with Google Workspace; familiarity with Slack and Asana is an asset. ○ Experience in event planning or community outreach is a bonus.

○ Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively. ○ Passionate about climate change, community organizing, and creating pathways

for active community engagement.

○ Passionate about climate literacy and accessibility. ○ Passionate about creating positive change and fostering community resilience. ○ Adaptable and flexible in a dynamic work environment. ○ Proactive and enjoys getting things done.
