Position Type: Part-Time Contract (20 hrs/week), Monday-Thursdays, Fridays Off

Initial Duration: November 1, 2026 to March 31, 2027 (6 mos), with possibility of renewal.

Pro Bono Law Alberta is a nonprofit organization committed to promoting access to justice by creating opportunities for the legal community to provide free legal services to Albertans in need. We work collaboratively with legal professionals, community organizations, and stakeholders to develop and support pro bono programs across the province.

Role Overview

The Program Coordinator is responsible for the effective day-to-day delivery of PBLA's Court Based Programs in Edmonton: Civil Claims Duty Counsel (CCDC), and the King’s Bench Court Assistance Program (KB-CAP). Working on-site at the Edmonton Law Courts, the Program Coordinator ensures programs operate smoothly by coordinating volunteer lawyers and support volunteers, assisting clients, and reporting program activities.

This is a dynamic, people-focused role where you would be the central point of contact for volunteers and prospective clients, ensuring each program is delivered efficiently, professionally, and with a strong commitment to access to justice. The Program Coordinator oversees program logistics, supports volunteer engagement, maintains accurate records, and helps ensure clients receive timely legal assistance in a welcoming and organized environment.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, adaptable, and confident managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. They are an excellent communicator who enjoys working with people, solving problems, and creating positive experiences for both volunteers and clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the daily operation of our courthouse programs, ensuring programs run efficiently and effectively.
  • Manage program schedules and daily logistics to ensure volunteers and clients are supported throughout the day.
  • Onboard, train, and support volunteer lawyers and non-lawyer volunteers.
  • Conduct client intake and collect required documentation and information.
  • Maintain accurate client, volunteer, and program records using organizational databases and case management systems
  • Working with PBLA’s Engagement Coordinator, communicate with Edmonton-based law firms and individuals to attract and retain new volunteers.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Post-secondary education in business administration, nonprofit management, communications, project management, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience coordinating programs, projects, volunteers, or client services.
  • Experience working in a nonprofit, legal, government, or social services environment is considered an asset.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with volunteers, clients and staff
  • Excellent customer service skills and the ability to communicate with empathy and professionalism.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams.
  • Commitment to PBLA’s mission and values.

Compensation and Benefits

  • $36,000-$39,600 per annum, paid semi-monthly.
  • There are no benefits associated with this contract.
